Fine posting runs against Zimbabwe but what i want to see this summer is a bowling attack emerge than can do a job down under in November.

This lot would struggle to bowl out a county team these are just cheap runs and proves nothing about Pope.

Poor choice to put such a one-sided test at a batsmans paradise. As TGP says, it's cheap runs and stats padding.

Love watching Test Cricket, but despite nearly 500 runs being scored, yesterday was boring.

For the sake of the game, ZIM should've batted first

I guess there's a reason why Trent Bridge got it. I don't think they had a test last year? Maybe they were due one?

Yes, Zim should have batted. But it's nice to see them play England IMO. Last think we need is a two tiered system with the same teams playing each other all the time.

If Smith can do something opening the batting in this white ball side then a batting line-up where you have Jacks at 7 is ridiculous. That said the bowling attack looks a bit iffy with all the usual injury suspects missing.

Bears look an overseas bowler short to me and are carrying Davies he gets out when he gets set and his captaincy is all over the place.

Davies captain keeper and opening bat you would think his dad was the coach.

Scattergun approach to signing overseas players since Jeetan Patel retired. Latham signing for the season is a plus but, as you say, bowling lacks something

Fucking hell this joker has gone for a load again off his first over. Whoever said to sign him needs to have a good look at themselves waste of a salary.

Took the kids to their first cricket game today - Edgbaston for the Blast. Hyped it up about 4s/6s etc.
Bears were about 40/6 at one point!...very much a damp squib!!!
Home in time for Champions League final though!!

Sylvester is terrible. Where is Woakes?

The failure in adding to our batting over the past 4/5 years is mind boggling. Barnard is a good all-rounder, but shouldn’t be batting as high as five.

Said it before but Cain is more interested in property development than a successful cricket team. Anyone in a senior position at the club should have huge alarm bells ringing today for that attendance at a Saturday Blast game.

I thought Woakes was with the lions, he will be so undercooked for the tests. Today was a shambles the batting without Barnard and Hain is non existent. Ali will come off a couple of times a season.

Didn't play him when they saw what a flat wicket Canterbury had served up. Pointless runfest.

Outstanding knock from Root. Made it more difficult for themselves than they needed to by dropping catches & missing runouts

Was at the cricket on Thursday and a guy behind me said “root doesn’t do anything at White ball”

after a bit of a heated argument I decided he wasn’t someone I needed to associate with

Root is such a class act

Root shows that you don’t have to hit everything for six he builds his innings very cleverly

Top players don't. Root had that spell when he was trying to be too unorthodox, imitating less talented players who needed to do something different. Desperate for him to finally get that Test century in Aus to shut down the few remaining naysayers.

Dan Mousley gets a long-awaited first 1st class century for the Lions. Looks like an absolute road, but hopefully he can now kick on for Warks.
