fucking shambles this tour of India. lost 7 out of 8 white balls games. thats pretty much every England team, men and women, at every level that have got absolutely hammered this winter.
The tour was the first under new coach Brendon McCullum, who has prioritised a more relaxed team environment since becoming Test coach in 2022. All training sessions under McCullum are optional.

Glad to see the back of Robinson, not sure why it’s took a 4 month review however

I think it’s time that Stuart Cain was reviewed out of the club.

Thank god they are getting a new batting coach but would rather they had pushed out the boat and gone for Bell or Trott as the new head coach.

100% this. They're following a similar path to when he was at Wasps where property development seems to be far more important than whats happening on the field.

If all these developments were improving the team then it would be ok but the county side seems to be short on at least one batsman.

The good news about the shite tour so far is that Crawley (oops he's out again) wasn't playing, our premium bowlers weren't exactly doing their bit either...tough tour confidence low and then we can now look forward to playing the old enemy...great....we're coming home, we're coming home ....

The pressure will be mounting on Key and he will look to relieve that pressure so Baz ball will come to an end.

It's still a vicious circle. They've devalued domestic 50 over and 20/20 so far that it's bound to impact the national whiteball teams. Only meaningful white ball cricket players are getting is around the various global 20/20 leagues.
Bazball is still entertainment-based rather than result driven. No system is fail-proof and it has to be adaptable. For example this summer Tests they need to get Root back to being a rock others can bat around rather than being a Bazball show pony. They continue as they're going we're heading for an Ashes whitewash as well.

Opened this thread to say we were ticking along nicely but in the time I've had it open we've lost 2 quick wickets.

Never count out the Aussies, especially when Zampa is on form.

Moeen playing the Blast this year and then retiring, has declined to play in The Hundred.

Stokes also pulled out of the Hundred already. Bet the people who paid the ECB millions to buy the franchises off the counties in the last couple of months are happy

For the IPL teams it will be about control. They will no doubt push to change it to T20 and won't allow it to be played at any point other than the prime slot continuing the marginalisation of other cricket.

Fear the ECB have started down a road to giving away control of the game and it will be very hard to get that control back.

People keep saying it won't happen but I don't think we're far off the IPL franchises giving players full time, 365 days a year contracts and controlling what cricket they play, even down to if they can play for their country or not.

Aren’t the Phoenix new part owners the Brady bunch that own Birmingham?

The ipl I is a soulless tournament but I am not a huge fan out any of the t20 tournaments.

just read in the hundred that Woakes will go to the Welsh side and Jamie smith to a London one and loads of teams are releasing players.

He captained us to the 20/20 World Cup 3 years ago, and we won it comfortably.

his problem has been taking over at the end of the era. The World Cup in 2023 was a step too far for most players, and we don’t seem to know how we want to play.

we’d have been better scrapping the side and starting all over again with a crop of young players after the 2023 World Cup. And blooding them through.

as much as Rashid and Root will be key players, they’re both at the back end of their careers. Same as Wood. Him and Root need to be wrapped in cotton wool for the test team

Hes won an ICC tournament, so no his record isn’t appalling. Are we struggling currently? Yes - that’s not down to captaincy, it’s down to the selectors and pool of players that are currently available to us

He’s only had 2 of his batsmen turn up, and on top of that the make up of the bowling attack he’s been given was all wrong.

there’s not even a stand out replacement. it’ll probably be Brook, but he’s yet to make his mark on the white ball game.
