The problem is that there isn't enough strength in dept. I have been saying until I am blue in the face that we need 2 SENIOR players for every position, and throw in the youngsters like Stevenson and DKE and Harries as extras. Instead we're using a bunch of kids to put out a matchday squad.

I do not blame SISU for the way Tm has recruited. He has released players not up to his standards like Phillips and Martin in the expectation he can bring in better players; fair enough. Then he's "bided his time" while all the other clubs have hoovered up the best players in time for pre-season. We've been caught cold, scratching round for loannees and discarded players to make up our squad.
For me, we are only now feeling the downside of having so many loans and short term deals last season; we let 18 players leave at the end of last season - OK some of them were awful like Ramage but others would have been worth keeping purely for squad continuity / "gelling" and backup purposes. Instead, we're basically having to start again from scratch. It feels like we're no further on than when TM walked through the door 18 months ago.

Can we afford two senior players in every position ? And do other clubs in L1 or L2 have the same luxury ?

And at least there is a chant about him that everyone can recognise and join in - unlike McCann, Vlad etc - please enlighten me if I've missed one!!

Bad planning with how Philips and Martin finished the season they world have been worth retaining on a 1yr deal on reduced terms to have some strength in depth. No way should vincelot have been sold to a rival we needed his leadership and warrior spirit in the middle. Fair enough if he had a replacement lined up who was better but I don't expect we will be signing a holding midfielder any time soon unless lawton can do that job when he's fit

Why would they accept reduced terms ?

Beat me to it. I think our injuries to 'key' players have caught TMs plan for the budget out - hopefully he can 'persuade' our owners to shift a bit re: budget - we'll find out in the next few days. Man, I'll be glad when it's 1st September and we find out what we've got as a squad (fingers tightly crossed)

At some point we need to give the DKE twins , Lawton , Stevenson and others games in the first team but it has been unfortunate that due to injuries their selection has been forced rather than slowly integrated

Yes we need a bigger squad but I'm sure with all these youngsters playing our future is brighter than many seem to think.
By Xmas we will be top eight and hopefully in the new year we finally have a great second half of the season.
Playoffs will be reached, I'm fairly confident we will get there.

I like to just add that I want Mowbray to play them for ninety minutes. Including Agyei, they don't need protecting.

Really worried but will go for a 2-1 win to City.
Funny how they were nearly religated and now are a stronger team then us.
I'm sure they have a smaller budget then us how do they all do it but we can't?

It happens every season when teams are promoted , confident squad with a winning mentality usually maintain their run for a large chunk of the season

Northampton are carrying there confidence from last year and beating a premier league side Tuesday and beating us at the ricoh last year will give them a lot more, for some reason I hate northampton.Tough 2-1 win hopefully.

A 4-0 win, an Agyei hat-trick and the start of our run towards the league one title..

Too far?

2-0 win, all good runs come to an end at some point and, in our case, it is usually when you take a decent amount of fans to a local rival with all the expectations in the world.

Ageyi brace for me

Reckon the atmosphere will be good. Couple thousand away fans - 12k to 13k attendance?

This is the game to kick start our season (fingers crossed).

Like the way your lumping us in with league 2, thinking ahead maybe!

I think a turgid scrappy affair with just 1 goal, will happily accept if it's us that gets it.

Hopefully Cobblers players will have one eye on the EFL cup tie vs Manure. If so, we will win!

Big to start? Hell probably play 343 and put him RWB, but I wish we'd play this:

RCC
Willis Turnbull Harries Page
Bigi Gadzhev
Reid Stevenson McCann
Agyei

Or something, not sure about the makeup of the midfield 5.

I think screaming out for 4-4-2 now given fit players ,,,,if TM swallows his pride and plays it we will win....doubt he will and we will draw.
Good to hear Sordell and Jones fit.

I would line up like this. (4-4-2)

Rcc GK
Ricketts RB
Willis CB
Turnbull CB
Page LB
Jones RW
Reid LW
McCann CM
Gadhzev CM
Ayegi ST
Sordell ST

Subs: Burge, Haynes, Harries, Bigi, Stevenson, Tudguy, Lameiras

Gotta agree. I would probably play Willis right back and ricketts centre back but the squad now screams out 442.

2-1 - if Phillips plays there's a guaranteed penalty but then there's the dreaded former player goal
