Coventry Telegraph

Coventry Telegraph I hope you read this forum post Time to give up the Wasp Links on your website it’s disrespectful to the city and the club. Put it into the archives if need be. Every time I look at the site it’s still a main link for news …. move on !
The entire operation of Reach plc is run by a skeleton staff with the Telegraph being one of the most skeletal parts of it.
Much of the website is run centrally by Reach with the local staff just uploading stories.
If the telegraph editor puts in a request for a change like that it will be overlooked by the need to find new and creative ways to make the site unusable with intrusive ads, or to fight ad-blockers that people use because of the intrusive ads.

Walesonline make the Cov Telegraph website look state of the art. It’s truly incredible. Made more incredible as they’ve now got ‘Premium’ news stories you have to pay for. If you get 5 mins check it out…or rather don’t bother. Absolute shite.

I thought they were owned by the same people tbh.

Yes Coventry telegraph now has Premium stories on a subscription basis…. And still with Wasps News links. Incredible.

I sometimes wonder if I'm on that site when I'm on here,@Nick , just kidding but trying to get my fingers timed to stab at the screen is getting more difficult I often hit the cookie policy or avast toggles, just infuriating and part of getting older, reminds me I must remember to cut my nails.

It's dying. The way it is going I reckon Andy Turner will likely be made redundant sometime in the next 5 years.

Tbf they break nothing that any of us haven't seen on here, X, FB or from WhatsApp groups. A shame as it was my go to source throughout my youth, but everything moves on.

I don't blame the Coventry Telegraph tbf, all of the newspapers under that same umbrella company seem to be exactly the same.
All the sites are just full of ads to generate revenue and are unreadable even if you do want to read something, and most of the stories seem to be just what's on Twitter or other sites like this one.

Ah yeah I noticed the other day it had gone down the premium route.

You also only get to read so many free articles.

I wouldn't mind paying 4.99 a month if it was good quality stuff but it's still the same copy and paste low level click bait stuff and half of it about Birmingham.

Does anybody buy the acatual newspaper any more?
Last time I bought one it was to stuff my wet walking shoes with to dry them out by the following morning. 🤭

Reach is a menace and has ruined most local news sites with skeleton staffing, focusing on clickbait stuff not even about the local area, and endless ads.
How much are the virtual ones over the physical copy,, didn't they do okay out the city last year?

I had a pop at them a few weeks ago for showing ads for funerals on murder stories. I know its automatic/Ai but thought it was a bit shit of them

The paper edition should go weekly ( like the Stratford Herald which is pretty good)
The website can handle all the breaking news and clickbait crap and leave the paper to focus on genuine news stories etc.

WTF is the Telegraph playing at? Since I moved from Cov to Thailand I kept up with local news from Cov through the Telegraph web site ( news about the sky blues I always used this site). Now I find they want £4.99 a month to access their articles. Well fuck that, does anyone know another way of keeping up with just local news from Cov?

Try the Coventry Observer not the greatest paper but it's free and try to stay up with local news
