Hey all, I'm really pleased with this piece that's up now on The Phoenix.

For several years, Richard Overson quietly put north of £250,000 of his own money into Coventry City.

He didn't do it as an investment or to get any kind of return. He did it as a fan who loves the club and, through his own businesses, had got into a position where he was able to put some money into his club.

And boy was that money put to good use.

In this interview, Richard reveals some of the things he did behind the scenes, including:

🥡
Helping sort out the catering when players were fuelling up on Nando's and Domino's.
🛣️
Filling the many potholes at Ryton and helping turn the training ground into the facility it is today.
📊
Moving the club into the 21st century when analysis was still being done using paper flipcharts.
🚌
Helping fund team travel during Covid when the club couldn't afford the additional coach it needed.
🏠
Helping new signings settle in Coventry, including finding homes for new players.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Richard's story provides a fascinating insight into just how difficult things were behind the scenes only a few years ago – and the people who quietly helped keep Coventry City moving forward.

The Phoenix is a subscription-based site, but if you enjoy in-depth and original Coventry City journalism, please do take a look.
Alongside Richard's story and our regular match and transfer analysis, we've got lots more coming up, including interviews with Darren Huckerby, Dave Boddy, Rhys Carr, Trond Soltvedt, Dennis Lawrence, Keith Houchen, Eric Black and many more.
