Speedie was one of the best headers of a ball I've ever seen. He could outjump Peter Crouch, no sweat.
At last someone remembers the great Dave Bennett, and as I remember at the time national papers reporting that if this player was Brazilian he would be playing for Brazil.

Problem with Bennett was that he could be inconsistent. Like all wingers. Think he liked the burds as well, bit of a Frank McAvennie style footballer.
Not so much as a notable mention for the most influential player to play for the club in at least a quarter of a century?

I thought he was simply amazing, the complete midfielder, that one good season he had for us showed his class, I didn't see a better English midfielder at Highfield Road that season, he was in true international form for certain. and a priviledge to watch, His career was blighted by a persistant pelvic injury and he had to quit, funnily enough I saw him doing some tv work recently, he was also very well educated, a very articulate man.

Agreed, although goalscoring is a key feature of a striker's worth. Both were hugely influential during their times at the club but the fact remains that Dion averaged 16 gaols per season and Cyrille less than 9.
Also, it was only ever when Dion was in the side that Huckerby looked like a Premiership player so he was influential in that regard as well.
Other than the cup win season how many excellent season's did Cyrille have?

Agree Tankie re: Stuart Robson - have heard him on Talksport a fair bit and he is extremely knowledgable. Struck me that he'd make an excellent manager. Such a shame about his injuries, to be honest he's possibly the best City player I've seen, that one full season he was just awesome (in an otherwise naff team). Glad to read that others remember him so fondly.

Stewart Robson won player of the season at Arsenal, West Ham and Cov. Not bad for a man who suffered with injuries throughout his career. Make no mistake, one of the most gifted players we ever had.
