What a great listen!

Got a tad emotional...then physicly sick on hearing fishface's voice again! God I hate that guy!... reminded me though of the greatest picture ever created though. Onye Igwe with a eye patch on entitled "One eyed Igwe".. cannot find it anywhere!

TBH I’m not going to listen to it. That SISU era is still raw.

No I meant the BBC and the Cov Tel in particular and their own roles in the sorry mess.

I read Doug’s comment about needing help meaning he would find another investor bit like Birmingham Wrexham and Swansea to buy in not further him to get out - he’s not scared of a big decision - loosing MR was a pretty big one

Opinions became entrenched and from that point on it was just about beating the opponent.
In 2011 the council were correct that Sisu shouldn’t own the arena. At that point Sisu were showing themselves to be unfit to run any business.
The problem is the council then decided to “beat” Sisu by destroying the club’s chances to ever own the arena. They were treating the club and Sisu as the same thing

Well they destroyed the chance of owning the arena under those owners. It didn't take long once they were gone for it to be reunited. 100% agree with the rest of what you said.

The problem was that the fans were served up a shit sandwich by the local media, who sacrificed editorial independence for political reasons, partly being lent on and partly because they were well trained puppies. It was quite a few years before most fans realised that sisu and the council were both to blame.

Not sure how that’s the case but it is the standard mythology around here.

By handing a 250 year lease to the insects. Luckily the councils 'city of rugby' project was about as much use as all their other big ideas.

Blame on the council rests around two main things
1. Setting such a high rent when the club had no choice but to accept in 2003
2. Selling to Wasps

The blame for pretty much all the other things lies with Sisu

No. It was an act of spite against sisu, but one which could really have damaged the club.

Was no need to hand them that long a lease.
Fortunately, what everyone but the people hanging on wasps coat tails could see happening, happened.

What was the logic behind giving them a lease that long?
How did the council benefit?

Ironically they sold to a company that were even more unfit to run the arena which killed a 150 year old rugby club (shame)

Very selective memories in that piece!
I mean Sisu absolutely bit off more than they could chew, and they looked like they couldn’t run a bath.
The council just used sisu’s unpopularity to gaslight the fans with the help of media, to such a degree that even the Trust and plenty of long time
Supporters wanted the club to die so they could start a phoenix club.

that’s how it got, amazing how quickly people forget.

remember when certain council members wanted to bail out Wasps with Coventry tax payers money!

so glad we hung in there.

You're the one spouting nonsense on this due to your personal ties to people involved.

Enjoyed the show.

I know it didn't form part of the program but was there a time when Stuart Linnell and Clive Eakin would strongly suggest to any callers that Wasps weren't going anywhere, would always own the stadium and the football club had to accept their demands or did I imagine that happening ?

Was glorious. Absolute scum, and fuck anyone that defended them.
Just as bad as sisu but with the council with their tongues up their arse and doing their PR.

I think you're right. I know he started legal proceedings last year so doubtful they've been concluded yet.

Hope it costs him a fortune and he gets 'battered in court!'

Think Derek may also be the defendant in a court case AIB have brought against him but I'm not too certain on the specifics
