Definitely didn't deserve to lose that, even though we weren't at our best. Their goalie was MoM, and the ref was one of the worst we've had. No panic, you can see we're a class above the vast majority of the teams in this league. Southampton with all their parachute money, just came to filth their way through the game.

I just looked at remaining games and even being pesemistic I see 12ots there which would put us on 89

One of them, the better team won. Win against Swansea and it’s all forgotten about

they were ok but we were the team creating most chances and their keeper was their stand out player

With bobby we have won 18 drew 6 lost 4

without bobby we have won 5 drew 2 lost 3

1.7 PPG

Not a direct result ofcourse but i do feel we are weaker without him generally

Thing with this aswell is he causes such mischeif attacking set pieces, defences shit themselves as 9 out of 10 he makes first contact either on target or back across goal. We miss him a lot

They were solid mate, especially defensively. Downs is a premier league player, he’s class

And when we lose “we’re bottlers” or some other meltdown. It’s been like that for seasons.

in fact even today “we’ve still time to bottle this” absolute Melt every time. How do you even go forward in life?

We had 5 big chances - they didn’t really have any. They were organised but not great

Lats is by far the best out and out defender. If you want someone who stick to his man, get a foot in and defend his box with his life it’s him. Theres a reason we concede fewer goals when he plays. He’s crap on the ball and offer zero attacking threat but in terms of defending his box he’s head and shoulders above the others. Thomas is second but a threat in the opponents box. Kitching can hit a decent pass occasionally. Woolfenden is just rubbish.

I'm not sure we really need to go into an deep dive on woolf and kitching tbh. They were not that bad today

Yes Thomas is the best one but till he comes back any 2/3 we do have have are more than capable to get us pts

The next three are quite tough in my view. Swansea have a very good home record, Derby are good away (plus a lot of our players will have been off playing for their countries a few days before) and Hull are a play-off team. If we're still 5 or so clear after that I'll be very happy.

Agree on Eccles, he simply isn't a 10. And in games like today you need a bit of guile in there. He doesn't have that.

For me Eccles is a defensive midfielder..I don't get him, at 10. Torp or Esse.

Boro dropped points at home so not a meltdown moment.

I think I'd prob rate him as 4/4 in pecking order but he's good enough to help us out in mean time.

Just not sure he's got enough intensity in him .

It does seem that Woolf was second choice behind Hughes for a reason

A very frustrating afternoon, the standard of officiating in the Championship this season is absolutely shocking. There’s got to be something done about the constant time wasting and players feigning injury.

I had the impression he could play the ball through and create. Just a bad signing I think. Kitching and Thomas are the best combination.

He did some nice passes forwards.

Southampton didn't have slot of shots. Think ha ING a go at cb's is just frustration at the result.

On the other side of that we’ll have Rudoni back available.

They came and did a job on us
Wasted time, fell over at every opportunity and basically reffed the game
Hurts to lose, especially to knobs like that but we're still top and whatever the result are a better team than that shower of parachute payment wankers

Hopefully he comes back firing but I worry as he often seems to take an age to get match sharp after an injury.

Not one to criticise refs but every time a City player touched a Southampton player he went down and a foul was given. Does the ref not know its a contact sport.

Ah, that was a tad frustrating, felt we had the chances to at least get a draw, if not win the game. Think a few comments about us not being very good is a tad harsh, but I will give Southampton a crumb of credit and say it was a "perfect" away performance, take your chances and make the game as shit as possible. Can't win them all, I guess, onto Swansea.

The referee, though, jeez. Bought every little thing Southampton were selling him. Was strict on throw ins early in the game, then forgot about it allowing Manning in particular to throw it wherever he fancied, then became pedantic again late in the game with the Dasilva one just inside their half standing out, couple of challenges that went without a booking, and just general lack of control of the game.

At one stage, I swear the referee finished counting down the keeper, and then instead of giving the corner told the keeper to release the ball. Obviously I'm probably wrong, but I'm fairly certain the keeper had the ball for more than five seconds (of the eight seconds they have) after the referee began the five second countdown. Shocking performance.

Downes dint get booked for the dangerous tackle and about 6 other fouls and is on 9 yellows for the season so avoids a ban
