Ah no, I think it’s generally pretty useful tbh. Just didn’t particularly understand yesterday’s figure / how it was so little. Felt like I knew the ball was going to hit the back of the net before it did for at least 3 of them!
I also don’t understand how QPR supposedly had 47% possession but there we are! (I imagine most of it was their CB passing back to their keeper at goal kicks)

If you’ve ever said “that was an easy chance” then you too indulge in this crap.
I don't get the connection??? If I thought to myself, "That was an easy chance", I wouldn't make up a stupid meaningless statistic about it.

Not many people at the Rushden & Diamonds game at HR then… actually we only had about 10,000 fans in those days.

Took my then girlfriend to that. Was that the game Richie Partridge played a blinder? What a player he was.

If we can reproduce Saturdays attacking form then yes I would expect a win, but let's give Oxford credit they will not roll over like QPR ! So don't get upset if the game is a pile of shite!

What does “easy” mean?

Means most people would score it? You just did statistics. XG is just a numeric version of “most” or “some” or “my nan an she’s been dead for years”

You said it first. Don't you know?
Dictionary definition to help you....
Achieved without great effort; presenting few difficulties.

I do if you keep reading. All statistics is is putting definite point on what “easy” “hard” “likely” “unlikely” means. If you’ve used those words then you’ve used statistics just in a more imprecise way.

I give up. You stick to your xg crap. I'll just keep ignoring it. 🤣

Just trying to do a bit of “maths isn’t scary really it’s just describing the world around us”. May still be in maths teacher mode form my kids exam revision sessions.
No offence meant regarding xg stuff. It's just that I'm starting my 62nd year of watching the city and football in general. (I'm now 72) Never have I, or anyone else I know, have ever bothered with these sort of statistics. It's the same watching a game on tv. I can't be arsed knowing how many touches a player has made or what percentage of the ball play a team has had etc. I just want to enjoy the game without the waffle and constant showing of ( to me), meaningless statistics.
Anyway, rant over. Enjoy the rest of the season. It's been an amazing start! 😉

Big Chance just meant over 1 in 4 chance of going in. It’s totally arbitrary.

Apparently Sakamoto had 0.7-0.8 xG over two chances v Hull, one chance being over 0.5 xG… I can’t recall 2 such chances.

It’s not an arbitrary measure, there’s clearly a mathematic formula behind it.
