Same team but I'd EMC is unavailable, Torp to come in and Rudoni on the left

Be interesting to see what happens when Wrights fit.

So was Vik during his loan spell. Just like Vik back then it’s his decision making and finishing that needs the most work.

Rudi lacks the pace to be a threat out wide …. Good delivery but can’t run in behind or beat a man consistently.

Strange, I'm sure I've seen him jink inside or outside his man and get crosses in

Pressure is expectations - resources. I don’t know the league and squad well enough but looking at the results they seemed to have a top four side with top four expectations. Compared to say here with a lower midtable side with top four expectations

Still not sure how the ref dint give the pen.

Also the two challenges before the player got sent off from him should have been yellows. Was obvious that player was frustrated and looking to foul rather than tackle.

He wouldn't have been on the bench yesterday if that were an issue.

I’m not saying he can’t do a steady job but he’s not the same threat. The second half yesterday with BTA one side and Rudi / Eccles the other we lost all of our attacking threat …. Instead of beating a man and drawing defenders on to them they simply held up play and passed it back to the full back which enables teams to get organised and pick up markers when the ball does eventually come in …,

That might have had more to do with the fact the game was won and we hardly exerted ourselves the whole 2nd half
I thought although boring we managed the game very well

Roll the clock back to our Portsmouth game and Plymouth have my sympathy.

Quote from a Plymouth fan:

It was so depressing sat in the Away End Yesterday. You know things are bad when the Argyle Fans join in singing with the Home Fans " It's a long way to Plymouth when you're S...T " Thankfully I only had to go back to Bedford

You know what, I actually had a good journey back from Pompey! The weather and game was miserable so the only things left to do is enjoy the company, the beer and journey home!

I’ve managed to go to a few away games this season. It was just one of those games. As you say, the company around you makes a difference.

You make it sound like ex England players are constantly being appointed into top jobs.

At least Rooney has tried. I admire anyone who is willing to try to learn something and better themselves. It’s sad that as a society we seem to want people like Rooney to fail.

But John Eustace was trying to learn something and better himself and he got hooked because of Rooneys name and nothing to do with anything he's achieved so far in management.

At the moment Eustace looks to be the far better prospect of the 2.

Their determination to play out from the back started to annoy me by the end of the game, I couldn't grasp how Rooney or the players couldn't see that it was a tactic doomed to fail miserably which I think sums up Rooney as a manager. He is not tactically aware enough to keep a limited team up in the championship.

Odd refereeing display. Their 11 could have gone for two yellows way earlier in the game

Same for one of their players who came on (Fawshaw maybe?) who blocked a quick free kick and was putting it about a bit and I think put in a few late heavy ones (may have been mistaken, how foggy was it).

I think part of the problem some former elite footballers have is not realising the capability of lesser players than them

Especially someone like Rooney who is probably one of the most naturally gifted players this country has ever produced.

The main thing I took away from that video is, he's comfortable playing on both wings which is a good thing.

But the quality of football looks very poor.

That would suggest that the manager isn't actually that important in getting results

The biggest contributing factor/correlation to success is size of the wage bill, this has been proven.

So a poor manager with a huge wage bill could get a better win % than a good manager with a low wage bill - doesn't actually make him a better manager though.

Which is why win percentage is not necessarily a great indicator and why it's difficult to compare managers across different leagues and so on.

Correlation is right.
Better players get the highest wages.
Biggest clubs (or those with parachute payments) tend to accumulate the largest squads (with the biggest wage bills)

I think Rooney deserves credit for taking the Plymouth job. He obviously is not doing it for the money, just a love of football and wants to stay involved. He could be sitting with his feet up in Rooney Towers watching his missus on TV, instead he takes over a basket case of a club and tries to improve it.
I guess now his managerial reputation will be shot, but respect for him for giving it a go.

Come on he has to keep his wife in a way to which she has become accustomed and the hair transplants don't come cheap.

That was almost identical to us at Portsmouth with conditions that said don't piss about at the back.
