We can stop fretting about losing both games to Ipswich now having beaten Boro in both matches. Boro also beat Ipswich at home and hopefully beat them away too.
It was my suspicion of what would happen this season. The top 3 sides all cancel each other out.

The championship has a funny way of doing that.
Anyway, I'm off to Fmttm to cheer a few of the more short-sighted knee-jerkers of our lot up who can't see the bigger picture.

Enjoy tonight

Well that was more than a tad lucky. They were much the better side except for the first 20 minutes. We have forgotten how to play possession football. Long ball long ball long ball.

On the plus side Wright back to form and so was Rudoni. The much maligned Lati looked tighter on his man than Kitching. Thomas also had a good game, why on earth was he left out against Oxford

Sakamoto is so frustrating. Ghastly against oxford, so tricky tonight

....and Frank the Tank does look the sort of player we needed

idiot

Your manager has done a hell of a job. Your triangles, 1-2s and off ball movement was very impressive. He has done this in such a short amount of time

We did to Boro what teams have been doing to us recently. No doubt they can play nice triangles in and around the box. Touches in the box is gonna result in goals.

They go with really high fullbacks though, so if you can counter quickly you can have joy as we did tonight.

Having said that, you have to be strong and disciplined in defence. Onyeka helped with that massively in midfield and Bobby Thomas has maybe sorted his head out a bit, as he was much better than in recent times.

Wright has to be up there with the best pen takers I've seen play for the city - Gary Mac stands out, but he missed a few.

So cool regardless of the situation.

They're a better team than Ipswich.

When we play you in the Premier League next season that's at least six points to us. 🤣
As predicted at the bottom of my post. We're more likely to turn over Man City and Arsenal in a Prem encounter than get anything against you.

I know you say "at least" but you won't get more than 6 points from your 2 matches against us mind.🤣

What a game!

I thought we were everything I wanted us to be tonight. We showed energy, pace, passion, skill and bodies on the line when required. Haji putting the effort in and showing us what a good player he can be.

A deserved win against very good opposition.

Super all round performance. Boro all possession and very few clear cut chsnces…just like our difficulty when we dominate the ball. Haji a different player tonight in front of goal.
Really surprised they didn’t try any balls over the top or through the lines to turn Lati and Thomas. It’s been our weakness all season. But tonight with the ball played around in front of them the back 4 looked tight and comfortable.
Tats was unbelievable first half…one of if not his best performance. V unlucky to be booked

What a performance, who needs possession, shoutout to Frank Onyeka premier league quality there was talking all game and breaking up play beautifully, unfortunate to get the yellow but after a few fouls in short succession hardly surprised. Haji Wright take a bow son thats what we want to see he spotted their weakness being Aylings pace and exploited it using his body well trying to roll off the shoulder rather than stand off them hoping they miss the header. Rudoni looked back to his best, Sakamoto unbelievable performance, MvE some great last ditch challenges, Thomas is unreal in the air, and fair play to Lati putting in a great shift with plenty of grit and heart, Rushworth what a pass and good performance. All of them deserve 10/10 rating as they did a job like so many have done on us recently, fair play to Boro but they didnt get the memo you cant come to the CBS wanting to play 😉

Great performance against a good team. Well deserved victory.

Is this the first game this season where MVE doesn't take a long throw-in?

What a result that was tonight, and most importantly the performance over the whole 90 was excellent.

Onyeka’s going to make a huge difference to the whole setup, will allow Grimes to go back to dictating the game again and not having 2-3 of their midfield pressing him with no support.

Thought was also Rudi’s best performance of the season, the link up with Tats first half especially was brilliant and the build up play for the first goal between the two of them was a class above.

Defensively so so much better, Rushworth as reliable as ever but the CBs stepping up and putting in a shift was so important after the last two months. MVE I thought was a bit of a weak link first half, but second half miles better and some crucial covering tackles.

And what can you say about Haji Wright? Genuinely unplayable at this level when he’s up for it, unlucky with his header off the post but kept going and rewarded with possibly the most nonchalant finish for the first. Defensive howler for Boro for the second, but his positioning had them panicking all evening and a brilliant finish as well. And to top it all off, who else in the league would you want taking a high pressure pen to kill the game?

What a night, Lampard got it right tactically and fully deserved the win!

Back four utterly fucking immense.

Rushworth dependably solid.

Wright an utter monster. Best performance I've ever seen from him, best individual performance of the season, Gyokeres esque.

We are going to love Onyeka.

Sakamoto utter mustard.

Wonderful atmosphere throughout, Singers Corner did us all proud.

Up. The. Motherfucking. Sky. Blues
Wright against sunderland last season was basically the second coming of gabriel batistuta but today he was superb for sure
