Markelo to get the winner.

Will be really interesting to see how he is used, if he makes the bench. If he gets minutes, it's likely to be at the expense of Esse or Tats. I don't see Esse playing no10. It's right wing or maybe left at a push. So essentially 3xRW in the squad. One won't play.

Make life uncomfortable for them, knock them out of their stride.
Pressure them and win the ball high up, flood the box like we did October November.

Need some big performances from the game changers tonight, If playing im looking at Torp, Rudoni & Wright to make an impact.

On paper we have the squad now, enough quality in the team to win this. All I ask is please just turn up, We need a Sunderland 3-0 esque performance as opposed to the Ipswich home game where we let them control us.

Markelo is a game changer and would a nightmare for opposition defences when they start to tire in the 2nd half. He’s just behind Doku with his dribbling stats in Europe.

Looking at the bench for the last game potentially Minny drops out of the squad.
But if EMC is in there as well it could be Bidwell out of the squad as well.

You could argue BTA is a striker and Esse a 10 (though I agree he looks too lightweight and indisciplined for it) then you’ve got Yang and EMC left Markelo and Saka right, Rudi and Esse middle and three strikers which would be pretty standard. Then Onyeka and Grimes as a 6 and Torp and Eccles as an 8. Can’t see us having five forwards on the bench but maybe.

Wilson, KKH, CB, CM, then Esse, Yang, Saka, BTA, Simms maybe? Very attacking bench but that’s where you want your options really.

I reiterate what I said previously. I think we win 2-0 tonight, a goal near the beginning and a goal near the end similar to the final game of last season. I think Onyeka will prove to be a revelation and will show exactly what we've been missing. It's going to be a great night, the corner will be turned and we will look back at the blip between November and February and think "thank fuck we made it through that"

This the same Carrick that has changed how his team has set up in different United games?

Fans of all teams do talk shite.
Yes, that Carrick.

Possibly he's learned from his mistakes, but when at Boro he had in the main ONE style that he didn't deviate from. Until someone came up with a way to combat that style (and to be fair to Carrick when the injury list got ridiculous and stayed ridiculous for the majority of the 3 years since) we were awesome, then afterwards, far too predictable.

Despite this he stuck resolutely to his guns, not changing tactics mid-game and rarely making any subs before the 75th minute, even when it was clear that the game was going nowhere.

That's not shite, that's concrete fact. He did have a lot going for him too, his developing players was great, he was a decent motivator, had a good rapport with the fans and was a calm and humble man, but his inflexibility (with a side nod to luck with injuries too) was ultimately what cost him his job. Him having his brother Graeme as assistant was a bit too "jobs for the boys" as well.

His record at Man U has no bearing on this. Maybe the penny finally dropped for him, maybe it hasn't. Though tbf, IF his career at Old Trafford mirrors his career at Boro, the rest of this season they'll be brilliant, suffering a dip next season instead IF they give him a job beyond his interim terms.

You’ve never seen him play a full game, you don’t half chat some shite. Let’s hope he’s as good as you say he is

I really do think Onyeka will be the key tonight. I think he will shield grimes and allow him to dictate which is when our metromome is in full swing. Teams have pressured Grimes of late and he has his back to goal far too often for us to effectively play progressivley. Fingers crossed that ends tonight
Wouldn't say he will be, but he most certainly could be.

Absolutely shitting my pants about tonight.

Not sure I can remember another ‘ordinary’ league match with so much riding on it.

We’ve crumbled over the last month and I really do hope we pull out a performance that will set us up for the rest of the season.

Fucking come on City!

Just need the full backs to sit in more instead of being further up the pitch than our forwards and stop Milan changing sides to take them useless throws.

It’s great to have games like this so consistently now.

Looking back before the L2 season and how many seasons were completely dead by this point - never thought I’d be nervous for a February league game - just got to enjoy it, as we know all too well, it won’t always be like this!

I have actually. It’s called the World Wide Web and you can watch full 90mins games, highlights and read scouting reports and then you can form your own opinion instead of chatting half the shite you do to talk people down.

Guess what. You can do the same for Onyeka and form your own opinion.

It's my birthday, so the things I would like are

1. A good City win. Even more than usual and with the emphasis on the "good". It has to be better than Oxford!

2. Frank to spring a surprise. And not just a change in the centre-back pairing. Just something, anything, that indicates he appreciates that if you keep knocking out the same stuff do not be surprised if you keep getting the same result

3. Sakamoto on the bench. We have to start getting to the byline

4. Frank the Tank in midfield from the start (bet he doesn't)

5. Rushworth to a) continue to show his potential for taking throw ins and b) NOT be the MOTM

...and before you ask, 73. My first game was v Posh in Oct or Nov 1963, we won 3-2 in front of 29,002. Terry Bly scored.

Theres been some big games at the CBS but call me crazy I don’t think there’s been one bigger than this. I’ve said before our season doesn’t revolve around one match but this one you feel it does.

Win today, go back top and beat the form team in second (well 1st atm) to put down a marker for the rest of the league and season. Lose and continue to go down the league with a whimper.

We’ve got to do our part and get the cbs rocking tonight and not just mumble the sky blue song like the last couple of home matches.

We want to be promoted, it’s now put up or shut up tonight as far as I’m concerned for both the players and us. PUSB

Sunderland in the play offs was much bigger.

Rushworth

MvE
Thomas
Wolfenden
Dasilva

Grimes
Onyeka

Tats
Rudi
EMC**

Wright

** If not fit, wright there and Simms up top
That is what I would start, and what I hope? Rudi plays like he did this time last year which saw him watched by premier teams. Wright to play like he did before the international break (everytime he goes on international break he comes back a shadow of the player he was before going). Thomas is the aerial threat he can be at set pieces. We sart believing in ourselve again.
