Just been watching Simms on the stream post-match, and he looks thoroughly dejected.

I hope FL puts his arm around his shoulder and tells him that, if he carries on playing like that, the goals will surely come.

It almost breaks my heart to see Simms looking so down. He worked hard tonight and did some good stuff. I really want the goals to start coming for him, as much for his sake as the team's.

Its not elevator music, its the theme tune from Dragon Ball Z
It's too dramatic. Simms has just been brought round after being cryogenically frozen in 1972. He'll come good once he's back up to room temperature. I wanted to nickname him Udon because if you watch him trying to win a long ball you'd have better luck just chucking a Pot Noodle at the ball. Arms and legs everywhere but 0 chance of getting the ball. Everyone else has a got a GPS tracker in their sports vest but Simms has got a little sachet of spices in his.

The goals are coming, that's two in two appearances for the lad

He’s still defrosting, let’s give him more time.

I get the anger towards those jeering Simms, it was moronic, but let's look at this sensibly and not go too far the other way.

Whilst he scored a goal, which I am happy about, he still missed a lot of chances and didn't really look that good. Him and BTA are two equally frustrating players for different reasons. One annoys you and the other one then looks better, then switch back and repeat. It's like an alternating pattern and I feel some people are too keen to overcompensate some times.

I still think we need better this season than both of them if I am perfectly honest.

Still, we won and I'll take it every day.

Certainly not going to replace Saka but there are aspect of his game that are admirable and we don’t have any similar style players. I feel like he’d struggle against a decent quality Champ fullback.
If you had a higher quality player with the similar attributes of Rapha, he’d start ahead of Sakamoto imo.

His directness is admirable and had a little bit of magic that led to the goal. It was a v solid outing.

There was an element of game management at play, but thought we looked more potent in the wide channels with Andrews and Rapha playing. That said, Rudoni was a class above and put 2-3 chances on a plate for Simms to finish.

He put himself about tonight , made good runs second half and got in the right areas . He's not far away from getting on a run like he's done before

Honestly I’m convinced the way he plays defies his build.

He’s more an Inzaghi-esque striker e.g. right place, right time (not in terms of quality / ability for all you people who suffer with context / nuance in discussions!).

He always finds himself with the ball near or at his feet in great positions, almost by accident. The other bit should come naturally, maybe, hopefully…

Well you Simms lovers, what do you think about that performance should have had a hat trick. 🤡

I think he scored in his first competitive match in months. Missed two sitters but got into position and led the line reasonably well.

He was better in the 9 role than both BTA and Wright were on Saturday.

He is still some way off where we need him to be, but the points above still stand.

He did miss chances but got the all important winning goal. You look back at Vik and all the chances he missed, you wouldn’t have predicted he’d be an elite striker, he led the ‘big chances missed’ by a country mile in 21/22 and 22/23.

He got in good goal scoring positions, got a goal and anything else was a bonus. Besides, had he scored a hattrick, it wouldn’t have ‘really’ counted by the ‘games scored in’ brigade.

Haji looked good today in bits and pieces but really needed to get him in a game where we’re creating those clear cut chances to really show his skill as a striker.
