Define huge I guess, but the club can spend at least £100 million without risking its future.

I think you’re looking at £120-150m to survive. £100m if spent well gives us a shot if the manager is canny enough maybe.

Town fan here.

Our best performance of the season and a pleasant surprise. Definitely some parallels between our games with Leeds two years ago where we finished above them but they comfortably beat us in both matches. Think that’s partly because Cov are a nice style match up for us but I felt Lampard had an off-day tactically.

I was puzzled by the gameplan, particularly in the first half. The pressing was poor, with that really narrow triangle at the fron leaving loads of space behind in the midfield once we’d played through them. Possibly Hirst’s goal at our place influenced Lampard’s thinking with wanting a deeper defensive line, but it didn’t make much sense to put three players so far forward at the same time.

Cov being too passive in the middle was a theme of the game, both of our big chances in the first half should’ve been cut out. Rushworth was absolutely outstanding though. He’s one we tried to sign the summer we got promoted and it’s a shame it never got over the line. Thought DaSilva was a big miss too, from what I’ve seen he’s really kicked on in the last year.

On the controversial decisions, thought the Furlong/Wright incident was more of a coming together. On the other hand Kipre on Sakamoto was a definite penalty, although whether it would have made much difference in the 94th minute I’m not sure…

You’ll be promoted comfortably. We’ll need an excellent January to be consistent enough to bridge that ten point gap and even if we do, I doubt Boro will as well. Get some cover for Sakamoto, one more attacking addition plus another midfielder and the squad looks very strong
Coming together lol

It's crazy but even that doesn't sound a lot, inflation on all things, when do Skye, the prem take account of this?

Bloke’s got the incentive of a home World Cup to play in next summer but even that isn’t doing it for him.
To be 'fair', outside of top USA domestic league, I can't think of any other strikers/forwards other than Wright and Sargent playing at a higher level.
As poor as both have been (excluding Haji's two months up until October) I think it's a given they will both be included in their squad.

Pepi and Balogun arguably at a higher level

There is the striker at Derby, he plays for America - Agyemang think he has scored more goals recently compared to Wright and Sargeant.

Fair enough - As I said, I was unaware.
Poch has to include three strikers in his squad surely?
Although he wouldn't deserve it on current merit, Wright would probably still get the nod over the top American striker playing in their top domestic league.

Pepi, Balogun, Sargent, Agyemang all playing at equal or higher level who could easily mean he doesnt make the squad tbh

Yep-mate of mine an Ipswich fan said the same thing that it’s the best you have played all season and he now hopes it’s the springboard that he thought it was when you beat us last time.

This is why people claiming we just need to make a couple of key signings seems mad to me. The difference is level is huge. These players playing at their max can match a parachute club. But by definition a parachute club isn’t good enough for the PL. aside from the few who we’ve signed from abroad most of our players are here because a PL club has deemed them not good enough. Thats not a slight on them just a reality of this division. Players like Clarke who look a level above here aren’t good enough. Hamer wasn’t good enough. Players who would walk into our current team. We really will need to spend huge amounts to not be embarrassed.
Oh come on. No one is going to be embarrassed. I wouldn’t be embarrassed about spending a bit and going down or walking away with a huge sack of cash and few points. One thing we simply can’t do is over stretch.

Just got back. Gutted with that performance - didn’t lay a glove on them. Helps of course when you’ve spend £100m+ on the squad.

Disappointing to see the exodus of fans when the goals went in.
I went for a piss after the 2nd goal and had to fight my way back up the stairs

Jesus, some of the comments towards players/manager/team are beyond. So classic of todays society to react to everything, rather than be patient and look at bigger picture.

We got beat by a team littered with quality and they all turned up, very good and tactically excellent. It happens, it’s football. That’s the Ipswich I expected all season, they beat every team in this division last night.

there are so many factors which effect us, th
We miss the energy that Asante brings, hope he's back sooner rather than later
I think you'll find it's going to be somewhere inbetween sooner or later.

Id be pretty embarrassed about spending 25 years and the best part of £100m all told to not even give it a go tbh.

It looks like Ipswich may be to you what you are to us tbh. Which is a pain in the backside for us lot too, the games we wanted you to win more than any other were the Ipswich ones and us no longer having a single CB fit now couldn't have came at a worse time. 😕

Here's hoping that we are to Ipswich what they are to you, to complete the crazy triangle and we can make it 6 points off them at Portman Road once we have a defence again.

TV rights alone this year were £6.9 Billion, I would think Doug would love a share of that alone. £120 m is peanuts, that's how mad the prem is now!!!!

Well Ipswich were light years ahead of us on the night. They did a number on us with the physicality helped by a stupidly lenient ref, but even he did not change the result IMHO.
Being unable to rest players caught up with us and we looked really tired.
Missing JDS and his ability to retain possession was sorely missed. Don't think we hardly won a header in their box and we missed Bobby from set pieces.
I thought this was the second match where the gung ho approach didn't work. The other being Ipswich away where they picked us off on the break again. The way Ipswich were so much in charge, should have prompted a more defensive substitution to nullify Clarke. Would certainly not have won, but may have held out for a draw. Sometimes you have to be pragmatic.
The pens? Hardly ever given. Saw a replay where the Ipswich player took off Wolfie's shorts in their area? WTF?
Special mention for some Ipswich fans on social media. What a bunch of fuckwits. I get they comprehensively outplayed us and I would expect them to crow but the insults are relentless and unjustified.

Rudoni criticism is too much. He has been poor and is miles off last year, but let’s not forget he wasn’t liked last season initially either. He needs to play himself into form.

Comments around buying into his own hype or attitude/arrogance are mental. He’s come from the lower leagues and worked his way up - he isn’t an elite academy primadonna type. All noise from the club is that he’s a great character.

Comments re MVE’s form are fair - and it’s frustrating as we have a ready made replacement in KKH. I honestly think he’s persisting with him while he’s ill for the long throws.

On the opposite side , they run right wings! I'm still not sure it was a stone Waller tbh. Given as a foul outside box everyday of the week but inside threshold is alot higher. I'd be disappointed if it was given against us as a bit soft. Not even VAR will overturn that next year when were in prem 🤣
