There's a picture on Facebook of the two mad hatters at the Leamington and Warwick supporters club on the same night I think, having their picture took MVE and Binks.

I have it on good authority that they're now members and that the club has now stopped enrolling new members
A classic case of shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.

Post match selfies hopefully.

Despite the fact their faces look like theyve been through post car crash reconstruction, it's mad how the TV behind - which is the correct place/size - says Stoke (i think) and the crowd are wearing our colours.

AI is mad, init

So you don't have to live in Leamington and Warwick then to be a member.

So if they've stopped locals enrolling I think I'd be pretty pissed off.

Ofcourse other fans behave like this to succesful long standing managers even if their time was up.
It doesn't happen often because most managers are in and out in under 2 seasons with little achieved.
Exactly. Very daft to ask what other fans do of other clubs, because manager tenures on the whole, are very short. Hardly any long serving managers about.

I supported the team for 29 seasons in the top flight so not really
Which makes your aversion to Robins (which hasn't been confined to the downturn in results this year) all the stranger.

He deserved to be sacked. Do other fans behave like this - I just think it’s odd.
Thinking he 'deserved to be sacked' but overall did an incredible job worthy of warm reception on his return aren't necessarily mutually exclusive standpoints, either.

I'd say other fanbases do generally afford warm receptions to returning players / managers held in high esteem, yes. Fair enough if you think that's odd, obviously. I'd say the majority wouldn't agree with you, though.

I may be wrong but I can’t remember any applause for Gordon Milne when he returned with Leicester

Well with that attitude, what's the point in anything? The Jimmy Hill statue - he's gone and is irrelevant to our future.

Yes he is -he also didn’t manage anyone else and created the club we have today

All that said he was a hated figure here when chairman in the early eighties

Yep, basically the same circumstances ain’t it. Apart from over 40 years ago. And Leicester. And y
He got them promoted didn't he after getting relegated first possibly from the inherited squad etc and managed Bezitkas or somewhere and I think managed successfully and is revered over there?

Looks like this might be the first game everyone’s available for selection. I imagine Haji will be on the bench next week.

Let’s pretend it is. What would you go? I think for at least one game we’ve got to try Wright on the right.

Dovin
MvE Thomas Kitching Bidwell
Sheaf Grimes
Wright Rudoni EMC
Simms

S: Collins, Lats, Dasilva, Binks, Eccles, Torp, Paterson, Saka, BTA

Strong team with a strong bench. Keep that fit for the last 10 games and we’ll give anyone a go. If Wright or EMC can’t work on the right then I think you’ve got to rotate Wright at ST and LW, probably start with him LW and bring EMC on for either him or Simms depending on how the game is going.

Doubt Wright will be ready to start by the 8th.
Lampard seems very cautious when interviewed about putting a timeline on when he'll be match fit.

We can’t drop Simms at the moment so I would try Wright on RW and move him up top or LW if we have to.

Didn’t he go to Leicester? Gordon didn’t flourish with us although keeping us in the top league is always good.

I really hope Lampard doesn’t get himself in the same mess Robins did when he has lots of forward options. He needs to keep it simple. Wide left. Wright or EMC. Wide right Sakamoto or Rodrigues. Central. Simms BTA or Bassette. Don’t try and keep everyone happy. It can’t be done.

Robins problem was that he rotated them too often so neither player had the chance to hit form.

Sakamoto won’t start when Haji comes back and gets some minutes under his belt.

I take it you mean Raphael - I can't see him being thrust into the team suddenly after barely starting at all for us this season

Totally agree with this. Keep the best formation and don't try and force all your best players in out of position.
Some tough choices but for now it's either EMC or Wright with Simms up top. Keep the Saka/MVE partnership where possible because Saka can offer defensive support, Wright can't.
Interested how Sheaf, Grimes will work. Not convinced. They both like the same space and may slow things down by short passing to each other.

They are both good enough players to switch sides IMO, including during a match.

EMC has looked poor on the right when he's played there.
Appreciate his a bit further into his City career now and playing with confidence but still....

He was fine, nowhere near as bad as people made out, and as you say the main reason was the fact that both the club and the Championship were new to him. His ability was clear enough to see, and he was unlucky not to get a few goals, but as is depressingly common on here, he got rated as a non-league player because of a few understandable mistakes. He may prefer the left side, but I'm confident he could be a big threat on the right too.

How many minutes did he actually play there?

Wright and EMC will start over Sakamoto. This idea that Haji or EMC cannot play RW needs to stop until they’ve played at least a few games.

Lampard changed formation yesterday to accommodate EMC, Lampard views him as undroppable. Saka isn’t and was a casualty as soon as we changed formation in Jan.

If one of them can play on the right that's fine.
But what people are saying, and what I agree with, is you dont shoehorn someone into a position they're not comfortable in just to get them in the side.

You play them both and get them to constantly switch flanks as inside forwards.

Wright is fairly two footed and should be good playing off the right hand side specially with him making runs onto the back post.

EMC wasn't brilliant on the right but might be better now we don't really know until it happens.

If we can get it to work with Simms as well we have arguably the best front line in the league

When Wright is able to feature I'd be giving him 20mins or so on the right in place of Saka. Hopefully he takes to the position and means we can have a front three of EMC - Simms - Wright in the long term.

EMC has played in the right a lot more in his career. Haji only really for 6/7 games in the NL. Though EMC only at National League level.

EMC should be fine on the right being right footed, but was signed as a LW playing there for P'boro and seemed to find his feet at the level playing on his natural side. Now he's up to speed and proved to himself as much as us that he's up to it, I reckon he'd be fine, but if he's not, then we've seen what he can do on the left, so I pray people don't get on his back and ruin him. Haji has to play LW when fit as he's proved he can not only be creative there but cut in and score plenty too.

i think everyone can appreciate what robins did for the club and the gratitude and appreciation people may or may not have for that should not be judged by what happens in a single high stakes championship match. It’s a distraction tbh i’d prefer it to happen after the game or not at all
