Cov B or Phoniex Club (1 Viewer)

Could we arrange a phoenix club (called CCFC B team) and then use them as a 'B' team when we get CCFC back. Notice I say when not IF, as we will be back one way or the other. We always send players out to Nuneaton, Hinkley etc so if we back a phoenix club and this mess goes on for a few years they will get supported and go through the divisions, but then when we come back instead of killing the phoenix team off we could use them as a B team like Spain does, Barcelona B, both Madrid B's etc.

I hope this does not happen BUT if it does then atleast the phoenix club does not go to waiste and keeps a CCFC history to it as a reminder to future generations of what could happen. Also a reminder to any new owner not to try this again as the phoenix team would still be waiting to take over and would be known as CCFC B team (sure this name could be changed to a more favourable one if it ever became required)

I know B team sounds crap but we stick with our history, provide the club with a team to allow the youngsters to play in and once again do something new in English football that they WILL FOLLOW. Remember Cov have a great history of firsts. 1st team to have a professional programme, 1st team to have a match day train, 1st team to have a professional sponser etc etc etc.....

To me lets make this a positive, lets be the fist professional team to have a B Team in England (fan owned) that the A team sends players to for experience.

The longer we back this team the better it will do, if SISU continue their bull crap then this team could go on for 5 or 6 years without THE REAL CCFC being at home, in that time THE CCFC B Team (phoenix team) could rise through the ranks to give our kids a harder game than academy level. Our kids would then have a better grounding when asked to play for the first team.

I believe a REAL CCFC B team, with the support of the fans could fly through the leagues by having first team backing and supporters backing financially.

Coventry United (no history), if you really are an alternative to CCFC then become our B team.

Follow a new club while City are away and then if and when the Sky Blues come back to Coventry, merge the two clubs, with the new club becoming a feeder team.

Who would put the team together and train them everyday? Where and who would they play and who would finance it all? and if CCFC do come back as you guys put it, would CCFC want the players that have been playing in this team? Elite players that would be good enough for this team would already be signed to other local clubs, I am not knocking the idea just asking some questions, hopefully you can answer...also any B Team, would need to backing of CCFC to use club name, crest, history ect...

Would need to be a complete separate entity. If things were brighter in the future and there was appetite for it there is no reason they couldn't be affiliated as a feeder club. Would be important to keep it a separate team to allow progress up the leagues.

In terms of finance the way I see it is being fan owned. FC United fans pay £12 per year membership. Initial start up would maybe rely on donations over and above that. If it stayed a separate team long term with league ambitions could make a minority stake open to outside investors.

At that level it isn't the norm to get paid so anything would be a bonus.

So why do we send players to them EVERY SEASON? We send them players so that they get some league experience. Not reserve level or below for them, first team and I believe that our boys helped keep them up last season.

I was thinking along the lines of a Coventry United that has no fans and no history so could easily be mixed together. They already have players, team and ground etc but no fans. It does not have to be them, but that's the easy option. I would not like to do it to teams like Cov Sphinx that already have a history off their own. I just don't see any reason not to try, if it works we have a real team to blood the youngsters, if it don't what do we loose?

nuneaton are in the conference, the league just below the football league, of course playing first team football there is good for their development. Playing in the midland combination won't develop them...if it would why don't we currently send players to sphinx, copsewood, etc?

No, there is no point setting something up just to drop it later on! How could anyone be expected to commit to something that the owners are not prepared to commit to? It will fail!

It's like setting up home with someone on the premise that you're going to dump them IF your ex turns up!

If we want a Phoenix club (and I do), first we have to accept that sisu fc is no longer our club, and learn to move forward.

Trying to change an existing club isn't the answer either, a phoenix club needs to have been set up, and accepted by the majority of the supporters, as a continuation of the previous entity know as ccfc.

Anything other than full commitment is pointless.
