I have to keep calming myself down by remembering that we need to win 2 more than Wycombe while still overtaking Exeter and Notts County. Still a hell of a lot to do, we've just had a very good weekend.

Yep, but the excitement is still there because if the match ups if our rivals this Good Friday.

This is the City though. You just watch everyone else do us a favour and then us not turn up and lose. Ha!!

Other teams will win and momentum is an irrelevance - in the end if we managed to beat Newport and Notts county beat Wycombe there would be a realistic chance the club will be 3rd or 4th by Monday. The only team with momentum would be us.

But then we don't have to be 3rd by Monday.

We only need to make sure we are 3rd by the end of the game on Saturday May 5th.

What if we lost on Friday would you be happy with a 5 point gap to close?

If Wycombe get the draw at County and win all bar one of their remaining games (6)?
Can we catch them ?

If we lose on Friday I would say that could be pretty much game over.

As you said the other day, all we need to do is keep winning ourselves.

Hoping we don't lose any now until the end of the season, but have predicted 1 defeat.

Would be concerned if that 1 defeat was in our very next match.

We can can't we?

They area6 points clear, but we have a game in hand. They draw and we win, that gets the differential down to 4 points. Win our game in hand and that's down to 1 point.

A draw for them in 1 game and a win for us would have us overtake them.

The Notts county game away is huge, a game we need to treat like a cup final although I would take the draw

Yeah, me too.

A win for us in Friday and a draw for them would have us both on equal points.

Then we have Yeovil on the Monday and they have Accrington.

When we play then play them following that we could be 3 points clear, so yeah, would take a draw for sure.

It's always a God Easter isn't it?

Think that's pretty much the point to be honest.

Cmon Otis. It’s not all over if we lose Friday. We can afford to lose 1 possibly 2 more max out of 8 left.
and that’s it if we want third.

Part of me would take 4 points from Easter Weekend. To keep the pressure firmly on the 2/3 above and below us.

I was having this debate with a few fans including my son.

I’m in your camp here. I think I’d take a guaranteed 4 even if that only makes up a point or two on 3rd/4th but some want the full 6 whilst we on this run. I understand some not happy if we don’t beat both teams next weekend.

If this played out they'd get to 86 points with 25 wins, the only way we'd overcome that is either with 8 wins or 7 wins and 1 draw, same points but taking third on more wins. If they lose on Friday we can afford just one defeat!

It’s not just about not losing though. We may not lose another game and still not make Autos. Ie win 4 Draw 4.

Mansfield have lost fewest games. But have drawn the most. That’s their downfall this season. They may not make play offs with fewest defeats in league.

6 wins 2 defeats is much better than 4 wins and 4 draws.

Fair play to Wycombe if they win 5 of last 6. Then they deserve it.

If we are to lose 1/2 games. At all costs this must not happen vs Notts or Lincoln. These are must not lose games.
Having a blip of losing one maybe two should come vs Yeovil or Stevenage etc.

Hoping we lose none though!

Yeah, that's my gut feeling. Think we can only afford 1 defeat.

If that comes on Friday and Wycombe were to win that's a 9 point gap. That's what I mean when I think it could be over for us. Under that scenario.

I think we can only afford 1 defeat, because I do believe we will draw at least 1 of our remaining fixtures.

Yeah. Smiley said the other day that we could afford to lose against Notts County. Have to say I disagree on that.

For me a draw will be fine, but it's a must not lose game.

Yeah fair point but I think if we can draw against the teams in and around us, maybe sneak a win then we have a chance.

Objectively how many games do we see Wycombe losing and their final points tally ?
I can only see two If one was to come on Friday it may just induce another.

Did anyone see them getting battered at Home by Cheltenham? Or for that matter not scoring vs Port Vale at Home.

Their form last 5/6 games isn’t good. Would require a substantial pick up in form.

Can see them maybe losing at Lincoln and dropping at least two points against Accrington and quite possibly Chesterfield, who played well today and reading up on it, have just got key players back from injury and desperately need the points.

Add in to that a draw at Notts County.

So

Notts C Draw
Grimsby Win
Yeovil Win
Lincoln Lose
Accrington Lose
Chesterfield Draw
Stevenage Win

That's 11 points. 81 in total.

Could happen for sure. Draw at Lincoln that's 82 and if Accrington too, that's 83.

Fact is there will be so many twists and turns on weekly basis. We may also stumble on a result here and there no doubt we will too when we are expected to win. It’s the natur3 of this league.

But overall. So what if we lose and Friday and Wycombe win and the gap becomes 9 points. I won’t be giving up hope as we have a game in hand. And if we get back to back wins after a loss then I’d be backing Wycombe to be dropping points.

We don’t want to be sitting in third place now. We want to be sitting there after The Morecambe game.

Compare the table from now to 6 games ago. What massive difference. How quickly it changes.

Well that's exactly what I said.

All that matters is where we are after the last game of the season.

That is when we need to be 3rd and at no point else.

Clutching at straws, but surely an almost 2 week break in April can’t be good. Nothing beats match practice. As we found we weren’t great vs Barnet after a little break.

Yep. The rust can set in. They miss out because Lincoln are in the Checkatrade final.

What’s the set up as in who plays first tie at home?in play offs? 4th vs 7th 5th vs 6th.place

Surely it’s an advantage to play home tie 2nd? Or is it bets to play home tie first? Not sure what I’d prefer. Arguments for both sides.
