Oh dear..

1. Thats a shocking amount of rent.
2. I don't think I have ever seen more than 3 people in there at once.

I'm wondering why the CT decided to link the two completely different lease agreements? Seems odd and I don't understand their motive. Just another chance to stick the boot in on the club. Also the library rent is for 365 day 24/7 (if they wanted to) ours is for 23 days use from 10am - 7pm.

Apples with pears again from Simon. One is a library, open 7 days per week for the whole year. The other is a football stadium, rented for a few hours on 23 days minimum a season, up to a maximum of what? 35 days?

Yep, it is next to the CCFC Shop at the end.

It is the unit that's usually empty.

What a waste of public money for a service no one uses. Clearly done for political reasons to support the Arena project at inception.

Can't believe they didn't move out as soon as the initial 10 year deal ended.

Libraries have had their day, I used them a great deal until I started work, but times are different now.

I am not sure, my daughter still very much loves going to the Library for the experience. I could probably buy the books off ebay for pennies or Amazon brand new but she loves going there.

She loves books though, so probably not normal nowadays

Never like the look of the Arena Library though, whenever I go past it is just used by people using the internet rather than other kids in there colouring etc like the more local ones.

All part of the bribes councils effectively offer to retail developers. We'll guarantee you x income over a period etc.

I'm surprised no one had demanded that the club's rent increase yet

Meanwhile you have to pay 3.9% more council tax, the minute the Tory cap is lifted Coventry local taxes go through the roof.

Sorry but what has this got to do with CCFC renting the ground on matchdays?
More Spin form CCC and their puppets at the telegraph.

I think the Library may have already or will be closing soon so I'd not make a day of going there!

The current cost of running the library is £218,000 a year - made up of £110,850 rent, a £17,222 lease service charge and £47,082 business rates, as well as cleaning and energy costs.
Coventry City FC currently pays a reported £100,000 a year rent to play at the neighbouring Ricoh Arena.

So we're comparing £110,850 a year to £100,000 a year. But of course if we compare the total amounts paid since both facilities opened we have paid far more as we were being charged £1.2m a year.

And of course on the current deal we get the Ricoh for 23 days. That's £4,347.83 a day. The library works out at £310.50 a day.

If the library is moving is it worth looking at for a bigger club shop / ticketing office?

No idea how big the library is but we might not need the whole thing. Could it be split into smaller units but still be bigger than where we are?

I am not sure, it is the full width whereas I think the city shop has the toilets taking up half of it.

If we were to have half of the library it would probably mean a deeper store but about the same width I think.

Its on the end isn't it? You could potentially put ticket windows in for use on matchdays.

Yep, it's the glass bit where you walk through for the car park.

It will probably end up as a fast food place or coffee shop with wi-fi.

Done a quick search. Unit 4B was available for £61,750 a year. Think that's roughly the same size as our shop.

Interestingly also saw a advert to lease our old club shop at the Ricoh, and there's another similar space around the other side which is up for lease.

That was upstairs wasn't it? Looks like its a mirror image of the old shop but on the other side so if you walked straight through the atrium (assuming you can get out the other end) it would be on the left as you go out.

It must be up the stairs at the other side. Never been down there.

Couldn't disagree more. Not everyone can afford to buy books, study at university or buy a PC to browse the Internet. All stuff you can do for free in your local library. Well, those that councils haven't closed down.

There always seems to be a few in there whenever I go past, it seems a it excessive in rent maybe Wasps could offer them some free space in the Ricoh to put the library

Sod that, the council should demand to pay lower rent.
When they get a few offers
Don't agree to them.
Also bid to buy the landlords business.
Go on a rent strike.
When legal action is taken against them. Move the Libray to Leicestershire and dare the landlord to find a new tenant or buyer of his/her business.
When they do, get all offended and sue them.
(Standard business practice )

Or they could ask central government to pay? That would make it ok then.

Yes after 3/4 appeals if the council found a judge who finally agreed with them. The judge could turn round to the landlord and say the compo for this is to be paid by the Government not you.

It's an odd choice of story for the Wasps PR machine to push out via the CET. I suppose we are now expected to be grateful for what we get.

The Telegraph's promotion of them is shameless...surely the franchise are paying them A LOT of money?

The hypocrisy of the telegraph makes their campaign to bring the club back even more of a farce.

CCFC must have paid the CET more the other week. When the CET questioned the PR from London Midland as to why Wasps matches were choose for the train trial.
Of course there was hell to pay on here until we realised the CET were actually defending the club. Then it was "nothing to see here"

And so they should give good PR to the local football team. They should have ignored the franchise like the Northampton press ignored us.
