There seems to be a lot of assumptions that Ipswich are on some sort of a roll and likely to win a good chunk of their remaining games, despite there being no evidence at all to support this.
Over the course of the season, they have only been able to string together more than 2 consecutive wins twice. A run of 4 in Dec/Jan where they won an away game (unfortunately us) and then had 3 home games on the bounce. There was then a run of 3 at the end of Jan, where again, they had a win away and 2 home game wins.
On both occasions they followed up their "streak" with some really poor form. taking just 4 points from the next 4 games at the start of the year and a slightly better 6 points from their subsequent 4 in March
Add to this, the difference in their points accumulated at home and away where they are averaging 2.2 ppg at home and just 1.5ppg away. With 4 of their final 6 being away (including 3 on the bounce after they play Boro), it looks even less likely that they will continue on their winning ways.
Yes they are unbeaten in 9 games but they are still dropping points and we don't even need them to start losing. Every point dropped is one off the target we need to hit
I know in the run in, form kind of goes out of the window but I can't see a world where they all of a sudden find a level of consistency that has been missing from them all season.
I would love it for either Pompey or Boro to do a job on them and get a win. If they do (or even if they can both produce a draw) and we take all 3 points from Blackburn, we can secure the title with a win v. Pompey a week tomorrow!!
