He's not questioning the people who work for the nhs ffs. Selected immigration is a good thing for this country ie getting the best foreign doctors and nurses to come and work here. He's on about the rest that we dont need putting unnecessary pressure on the nhs/schools/housing etc. But you know this already dont you. It's not unbelievable for me to say whenever I walk into the walk in centre for example I can hardly here an English accent. Why is that? Before you start resorting to the usual nazi rhetoric why is that? Are they always ill? After all they only make up a small percentage of the population.
Correct. About 25,000 people in the UK applied to work on farms. Less than 200 got a job so far.
A company chartered a flight to bring these workers in. Are you saying there isn't 150 people in the UK that can do the job?
You should be in government, I’m amazed that no one has thought of doing this before.No what the government should of done was select 150 or however many needed of the long term dole dossing scroungers we have here and make them earn some of their universal credit.

Like I said earlier some people should be forced ie the ones who take the piss with benefits. Problem is though the likes of tony will moan about their rights whilst at the same time moaning about having to import foreign workers.

Do we actually have enough slack in the British workforce to make it up though? We have had record lows in unemployment for a good while now and agri jobs have a lot of competition. People have choices and the right to choose whatever job they A) want to apply for and B) what they want to accept.Crazy that we can’t get UK workers to do this though. Ultimately I’d imagine pay will have to increase to attract more people to manual agri jobs (may lead to increases in prices but so be it, it’s what should be happening)
Also, what are the kids doing for cash these days ? I used to pick up litter around the local golf course for a few quid when I was younger
People don't like piecework. Most of the seasonal harvesting work is that. Also comes down to geography in many cases in having to get large groups of people from urban to rural areas on a daily basis.Crazy that we can’t get UK workers to do this though. UK been bringing in European labour for over 30 years. Used to be mainly students on short term visas.
Problem with a lot of commercial-scale operations is pickers living on the farms in dormitory accommodation - not conducive to social distancing etc.

Board and lodgings is usually taken out of what you earn from piecework too. Simple fact is that most British people won’t move temporarily to another part of the country to take home less than minimum wage (legally) when they have the option to stay at home and take home at least the minimum wage. This long winded argument/discussion you've being having with other posters, Astute, just demonstrates to me perfectly why people will be waiting a long time if they want a Labour government ever again. I've seen people tearing strips out of floating voters, out of less left wing Labour voters... people they need onside to win an election. For a lot of people it seems to be project Corbyn or nothing.????
