The Mrs tested positive 2 weeks ago. She had her booster booked but obviously had to cancel. She's recovered now, but when can she book her booster for. I've read 28 days from the positive test, but still unsure.

One of the questions they ask you is if you've had Covid in the previous 28 days. Not that I know what happens if you say yes!

That's the one. Had all three of mine there, tea and biscuits twice! The other time was polling day so it was all a bit hectic.

I doubt they'll happen cos this is the govt testing the waters again to see how the public reacts. Which will be with outrage and so they'll can claim it was never their intention to bring them in when it gets a negative reaction.

How long has Omicron been with us in the UK now, two weeks nearly?

Has there been any record of any deaths from it in the UK or indeed worldwide?

The restrictions in place currently are tolerable in my opinion, but I think anymore and people will start to seriously get pissed off. We've been essentially back to normal for 4-5 months seeing things pick up again with the economy and people's mental health & well-being

Fingers crossed this will be the last time we restrict for a new covid variant

Im not one for rumours for stuff like this but I heard something similar (further restrictions from 4 Jan). Might be just precautionary plans being pulled together ie if hospitalisations spike following omicron spread, however, at the moment we just don’t know the severity of it and for all the negative noises about booster programme a majority of high risk have been triple jabbed

Also, we don’t know what type of measures. Could be just wider adoption of vaccine passports, more face masks requirements etc

Its said that omocron puts 1% of cases in hospital (most mild) compared to 4% of delta, so even if it is mild if it spreads 10x worst than delta it be still a strain on the nhs, im against lockdowns but i also can see the point if it needs to be done, albiet it font affect me.

It's too early to be making presumptions and this is going to keep on happening until people look outside of their own countries and actually understand it's a global pandemic and the overwhelming majority of the world don't have access to vaccines.

Confusion here .
Doubling every 3days.
Didn't one of the others?
Self isolating , who's going to comply with that?
What is the current chance?
Been as low as 1-:50 or less before, what is it currently?

What I see developing here is a cycle of the wealthier nations buying up vaccine supplies in reaction to each new variant that emerges from countries that can't afford them or don't have the infrastructure for their own vaccination programmes.

This will be self perpetuating unless the chain is broken and huge assistance is given to a global vaccination drive.

Is It True That No One Has Died with Omicron Variant?

Early studies indicate the strain may cause less severe COVID-19 symptoms compared to its precursor, the delta variant.

Really?

Not a single fucking one. Why is the UK media the only one kicking off about this???

Im going about normal life tbh, I’ll wear a mask sure but if any further restrictions come in I’m ignoring them

The WHO have not updated their figures since Dec 4th, the virus has been present in the UK for what - 2 weeks or so?
Hopefully it’s not a serious mutation - but people getting outraged based on out of date information is bordering on ridiculous.

If people want to be concerned/outraged then maybe have a look at this if it ends up being accurate on both counts.

Double tragedy after deaths of two children with Covid at same school

Think I'm going to go and get boosted.

I know its the right thing to do but i just cant shake the nagging feeling in my head that 3 in less than a year just isn't right.

The pericarditis/myocarditis is the worry for me as i have an arrhythmia

I'll be trying to book my booster for next week

I feel a bit aggrieved that I'll have had 3x covid jabs in 6 months and that I personally think the Omicron variant is overhyped by the UK media, but if it helps to do my bit to keep restrictions limited then so be it

Take it you didn't watch Bayern v Barcelona this week if you think the UK is the only country with concerns.

Lets hope games don't end up back behind closed doors here.

Talk about privileged. Aggrieved for being offered a third dose of a vaccine that many won't get the opportunity to have. I'm embarrassed for you.

Given the choice of having the third dose or giving it to someone else who may be more at risk than me I would choose the latter.

I'm assuming the 'many' you mean are those in other countries worldwide? Do unused does get distributed elsewhere if there is no take-up?

Forgive me for thinking that three doses in six months in which my last one was in August seems excessive. I don't think my age group would've been offered the booster if it weren't for this variant if I'm honest

Covid: First people in UK hospitals with Omicron variant

The variant accounts for a third of infections in London, Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi says.

To be honest I was a bit concerned with that as I have a history of it too.

The data suggests it is predominantly young men who are very physically active and won't last very long. Though from experience I know that's not much comfort when you're having an attack. I had my booster last week and haven't experienced anything of that nature, just a sore arm and a headache for a couple of days.

Yes I do mean it. There are people statistically more at risk than me (as per the NHS website) and if it meant that my dose went to someone abroad that haven't had the number of vaccines that the UK had that are more at risk then I would
