No, the point is that if you make a conscious choice to go into a boozer bearing in mind the current situation around the world, you are either incredibly stupid or a seriously flawed human being. The fact that they haven't 'officially' been closed is irrelevant, or are people just drones now incapable of making a conscious decision themselves?

People are making a decision by going to the pub, it just doesn't match up with yours.

Why is nobody explaining why it is safer to go to a supermarket with hundreds of other ferral cunts than it is to sit in a quiet pub? "People need food" is nonsense as the majority aren't just going to get what they NEED.

If I had to choose, I would take my daughter to a pub rather than a supermarket right now. (I am not going to take her to either).

But that does apply to the general population, yes.

False. People do actually need food, it is the hoarding that is not right. You are wrong, once again. Unless you really are saying that "people need food" is nonsense.

Probably less likely to get into a punch up too than a supermarket.

Which is why I said people aren't just going to get what they NEED.

Again, this leads back to people like Piers Morgan and other twats winding up the hysteria and banging on about killing grandparents.

I fully get people need food, if I had to make the choice between taking my daughter to a supermarket to get food or a pub right now it would be the local.

So you’d go into a crowded supermarket with a virus that has to a 90% death rate. I’d not bother thanks

It isn't to go and queue up for hours crammed in with others fighting for a bag of pasta or a bog roll.

Just to confirm, this isn't about people going to get food. This is about the state of shops at the minute.

Every time I go in the shop there are people's grandparents in there buying cigs, maybe we can ban smoking as well for over 60s as it will be making their lungs weaker or is that their choice?

This isn’t the same. Banning smoking. More false equivalencies. Shall we get back into car crashes on the way to matches again or is that one long gone now.

Which appears to be a ready made excuse for going to the pub, your call. You spent days saying how you had no problem getting food from your local shop, now its all about your fear of hordes of barbarians fighting over bogroll & pasta and worry about taking your daughter to Sainsburys- which actually is it?

My son is working on the covid 19 ward & doesn’t have the right protective kit. There are not enough respirators, so the actions of that idiot owner of Wetherspoons by not closing leads to a spike in infection which demand for them outstripping supply. The medics will be making decisions on who lives and dies! Self discipline from all of us is required for the greater good.

But you've been saying for days you can get plenty at your local shop? Why all this now attempting to play it down, why is it suddenly such a huge issue to go for a couple of jars?

Do you struggle to read? I have said I'd take her to neither.

I am going to the local shop every day to get basics for that day's meal. My fridge is empty and there's some stuff in the freezer and cupboards as a backup.

I am just using basic common sense. AT THE MINUTE it would be safer to go into a pub with a handful of others in than it would be to go in a supermarket.

Again for the record, I am doing neither. My point is that there seems to be much more focus on a pub than there is about people acting like cunts in shops. Why aren't people demanding many more security guards to enable people to just go and get what they need?

For a single bloke on their own, I am just pointing out their logic as to why they would go and get a curry and a pint over try and risk going to Tesxo.

I am getting at the need to sort shops out and calm the fuck down about toilet roll and pasta.

Yeah but I can go and queue at Tesco for an hour to fight an OAP for a bag of rice at 7am and then have to drive around trying to get stuff to make a decent meal as well as trying to work for a day.

The other option is to go to Spoons and get a curry and a pint for a Fiver. I have mates who have been going to the pub for dinner for that reason.

I get that people need to get food and do shopping but the majority of those at the minute don't NEED to be getting what they are and doing what they are doing.

Once there is some sort of order in the shops and people like Piers Morgan shut the fuck up then I am pretty sure it will die down naturally.

Greed is at the heart of a lot of this. Supermarkets allowed people to stock-pile.

Frankly, I've been avoiding Wetherspoons for years for fear of catching something.....disgusting cesspits....

...that said, anyone still going the pub is a bit of a selfish c**t IMHO.

I last went last Saturday night & still feel guilty & stupid about it now!

Just don't get it.
Do people really have to have the Govt order them to behave sensibly? Then people kick off about totalitarian states etc.
Govt didn't have to make condoms compulsory after HIV & Aids were discovered - the vast majority of people decided for themselves it was a sensible choice to protect themselves from a potentially fatal virus and its consequences.
Obvious difference here is someone with coronavirus can infect unwilling/unsuspecting 3rd parties.
You go to certain countries and you have the necessary injections to protect against serious/fatal diseases.
Why do people need the Govt to force them make rational/socially responsible decisions?

The bloke is an absolute prick. I don't know anyone who would disagree.

But as I jeep saying life needs to go on as long as possible. People need to work to make a living. Yet some try to say we should have locked down before the virus took hold. Yet they won't say how long it should happen for.

If we could keep our distance it would spread much slower. Hospitals would be able to cope. But we have countless who think they know better.

As I have kept saying we are about a week behind France. They have the advantage of their population being spread about. We are a small island with about the same population. I speak to the wife all the time. I don't have a clue when they will next get to see me. She detest Boris more than anyone on here. But a couple of days ago she surprised me. She said for once he is doing the right thing.

People have already had enough of being in lockdown. So they are now ignoring it. The fines have multiplied to try and stop people flouting the rules put in place. The lowest fine has gone from €39 to €135. It still isn't working. Someone got stopped right outside our house last night. The wife heard where they had come from. Over an hour away.

The one question never answered is how long do we lock down for. Until there is a vaccine? Or should it be done, release the measures when the NHS can cope then lock down again?

What is needed the most is serious consequences for those who flout the rules/guidelines. Keep your distance. Stay indoors for 14 days if you have any symptoms. But because we have idiots that know better it isn't working. So as I said last week I can see a shutdown being announced this weekend.

I agree.

As I said on the other thread, shops are being looted shitless. I went in the coop in Coundon and the woman said people just run in and grab whatever they can and run out. The girl on minimum wage isn't going to put herself at risk and people will always do it as they know there is no security.

Rather than focusing on telling everybody who walks in a pub that they are a murderer there needs to be some order. Get some additional security in every shop.

I was just pointing out why some people will still go to the pub. I know people who are self employed who have just been nipping in for a meal after work.

The local with 5 or 10 people in is a lot safer than a supermarket at the moment.

France has been shut since last weekend. The borders are open but only if you have a very good reason.

That is what I have been saying. You need to fill out a form before travelling anywhere. Not many places are allowed to open. You are only allowed to go to one of the places that are allowed to open. You must go on the most direct route. Go shopping alone.

If I lived in France full time I could get to be with the wife and kids. But then I wouldn't be allowed to leave.

I can’t believe that people don’t get the difference between shopping to eat and going to the fucking pub. Yes, you can catch it in the supermarket, at work or picking your kids up from school (until next week). But these things are all necessary to some extent. By continuing going to crowded places that you really have no direct need to be in you are increasing the chances of catching it and of spreading it to others.

If we all say fuck it, it will spread faster.

Spreading faster is exactly what we are trying to avoid, hence not doing non-essential things that might spread it.

How is that difficult to understand?
