Friend of mines quitting.
They've pushed and pushed and pushed and she's had enough.
Works special needs and has to put up with all sorts of shit, she's been attacked multiple times but it's the current workload that's pushed her over the edge.
Eats into a ridiculous amount of her spare time.

Mrs BSB has basically been marking essays continuously for the past 2 months, the stack of papers never seems to get lower. Last week she was crying hysterically because she couldn’t physically find the space to put the latest block. I do well to finish at 9 most nights, for her she’s been regularly going till midnight-1.

Making our classes smaller by 5 or more would make a huge difference to that.

No she wasn’t she was pushing anti vax nonsense about “it’s not a vaccine” (yes it is), “you can still catch it” (no shit, like every vaccine ever it’s not 100% effective). It’s just conspiracy drivel mate.

There’s a reason it’s fucking jumped up weather girls shouting this crap and not actual people involved in research and medicine.

Why is Gove talking about extending furlough past September?

Even if we don't open up on 21 June surely by September pretty much everyone should have had one jab, think if we kept to the original timetable and 12 week gap (and we seem to be ahead and shortening the gap) everyone was double jabbed by mid-October.

What are they expecting to still be closed after that?

Aren’t France and Germany looking to do the same? Why object? Sturgeon is demanding it isn’t she?

Germany has done it as it provides a bit more business certainty. There won't be an overnight return to full business activity so at least tapering the scheme is a good idea.

Putting people off holidays is probably a good thing in terms of making sure we open on June 21 though, right? Not great for the travel sector and various economies in the Med, I guess.

I also think it will cause a backlash from people that have been law-abiding so far. Trying to stop them from having a holiday two years in a row is not going to go down well. The naughty list bingo is a joke too.

Also, why would it stop us opening up on June 21st? There is no evidence to suggest people that have been going on holiday to Portugal over the last few weeks have made things worse.

So why did he also say that extra time had to be compulsory for the children so that they wouldn't just ignore the offer?

So they've moved it off the green list for no reason, then? If that were true, I'd question it as well but I'm not sure I believe that. I thought you were really worried about the risk from incoming flights?

Honest opinions, do you think it's a good idea to book for summer 2022
Or do we recon the teenage mutant ninja turtle varient might be spreading like wildfire

Yes but I would avoid package holidays for ease of refunds just in case.

Is she still looking at you like you’ve flung shit in her hair ?!! (favourite comment of the week )

Ps can’t see how the travel industry could survive if we aren’t operating at decent levels next year. As BSB indicates check about insurance, refunds etc

Nobody is being stopped from going on holiday, there are just requirements to isolate on return or show a negative test.

FWIW the government should be funding PCR tests for the 'test to release' scheme. They've spent enough building up the private test labs to get something back for it.

I'd hold on.
I can't think of any advantage of booking now but I can think of a lot potential drawbacks.

Nope. You are twisting my words, but again you know it.

Please find me data that shows how dangerous Portugal has become. I'll wait.

You'll also find my stance on banning flights has not been on places that are safe, but the ones that we should have moved to have banned earlier on. China, India, etc.

Shapps seems to be blaming the Nepal variant - are they many flights between Nepal and Portugal?

It's more about them putting one 'holiday' country on the safe list, before then taking it off again straight away. Travel was lifted about two weeks ago on May 17th. The data doesn't really show any dangerous correlation, but there will be people now put off booking holidays because they'll deem it too much of a risk thanks to this stunt.

The penny is dropping for many, but not everyone it seems.

In the interests of truth the WHO didn't sauy there wasn't a new "Nepal Variant" they said they weren't aware of one which is a different thing.

The two aren’t incompatible. There are teachers who would accept it and they could hire supply/tutors in. Also it’s not all kids if you read the proposal, those who don’t need catchup might be doing music or sports. A lot of provision could have been made through existing after school activities in those areas, AFAIK for PE after school clubs are included in their directed time already but could be wrong there.
