So raises the question

Why are the government lying to us?

AZ mentioned their ‘U.K. supply chain’ is on schedule. Appears there was reliance on some coming from abroad (ties in with what BSB mentions as well). if there is a little concern about Pfizer and EU as well maybe they’re just ultra cautious (re:second doses of either jab)

I'm a business consultant that specialises in supply chain and I can tell you the most unreliable suppliers in the whole world are based in India.

I would never ever advise my clients to purchase from there.

I think it's just the EU trying to cover their backs to be honest. Depending on you level of tin foil hat, a variety of things currently going on could qualify. They fucked it up badly.

That would make sense if it was the EU, but it’s not. The EU have approved it, unlike the US, and are saying it’s safe. It’s individual countries making the decisions, most of which (Norway, Canada, Congo, Indonesia) aren’t even in the EU.

I was talking more about the threats to block exports etc.

Don't know if it was related or confused but I posted earlier in the thread but I read an article suggesting the under 40's were to receive a different brand , guessing it was the Jansen one . Around a week ago
Did look for the article but didn't find it ,and certainly since this lot came out .

Seperate to this what is JVT doing expressing his opinion on the suggestion of an inquiry into the Do not resuscitate notice that was in operation last year?

Based purely on anecdotal evidence admittedly but.....

Somerset: 5 out of 5 Tory MPs & racing ahead of schedule with an abundant supply of vaccine.

Warks: 5 out of 6 Tory MPs & racing ahead of schedule with an abundant supply of vaccine.

Merseyside: 1 out of 15 Tory MPs was racing ahead in December/Jan & then had vaccine supplies throttled & then redistributed away from the region. Now lagging behind schedule.

...just saying.

Vaccine roll out suddenly slows when it reaches age groups less likely to vote Tory as well. Stranger things have happened

Threats aren’t actions though and we’ve threatened the same. That’s just standard bluster and if you think that’s bad you should’ve been listening to our polticians the last thirty years. Or did you miss us threatening war on the French if we didn’t get the fish we wanted?

Not that I don’t love a conspiracy. But the factors that make an area Tory and that make take up high are the same (rich, older).

Conversely, Coventry's been doing well as far as I'm aware, and that ain't Tory.

I wonder if the brakes suddenly being applied to the vaccine rollout is because they’ve been forging ahead with getting as many people as possible the first jab, but have now realised if they carry on it will be logisticaly impossible to 2nd jab everyone within the already extended 12 week period.
maybe ramping up 2nd jabs from now and then 2nd jabs only throughout April is the only way they can catch up and not be faced with the disaster of people being left stranded with only 1 jab.

Don't think this is the one but is from five days ago , maybe suggesting overpromising
Edit Anecdotally I think some of these parameters have started and are not awaiting the rigid schedule.

Certainly for the oldest percentile as life expectancy is either 10 years dependant on that postcode.
Not sure about the rest .

It doesn't really matter what you say, it just looks like blind defence of an institution with their backs well up against the wall.

You can have your second referendum now if you want though.

What? Dude you’re the one hung up on the EU. I’m sorry the facts are otherwise. This is how competing trading blocks act towards each other. It’s what you wanted. We get to threaten them over fish, they get to over vaccines

This is old but , simply the AZ statement around it's deal with the EU .
Does beg the question that at least one of it's manufacturing facilities has still not sought approval to kick on from the EU body .

I'm not hung up, I just find it outstanding the lengths some people will go to defending the EU. Even when their fuck ups are platinum plated.

Again. You’re blaming decisions that the fucking Congo took on the EU, then when that’s pointed out point to some very mild threats, which as I said we do too because that’s what two competing trading partners look like. You wanted this remember? You wanted everyone to go their own way. That’s what this is.

You’re like some guy that broke up with his ex and can’t stop Facebook stalking her. Move on.

How the Moderna, AstraZeneca, Pfizer and other Covid vaccines compare

The UK has approved three Covid vaccines with two more set to come soon – from effectiveness to ease of use, how do they compare?

I think this local election is so important for Labour as it will be the first measure of Labour's popularity since the GE.

I can honestly see a challenge for the Labour leadership over the next year.

From who? Richard Burgon?

We get measures of Labour’s popularity every week or so from the polls. Currently it’s enough to deny a majority in a GE but not get one. Which is about the best you can expect after 2019.

Anecdotally of a phone call into Jeremy Vine show .
Chap had first around mid Feb so anticipated or had arranged 2nd dose prior to mid May.
Had a phone last night to expect his second imminently .
Schedule looks to have shifted, although only one example.

Coventry South isn't going Tory in the next GE - From speaking to the locals we are getting support back from 2019 and Sultana despite what the press may say about her is actually quite popular.
