We should be ok at St Andrews. If they open all of the stands then we can isolate with a 10 seat radius around each fan.

I think you have missed my point big time.
My post was about government figures being possibly wrong (too high in this case) and that when people take sensible precautions the reported cases will come down massively.
I notice from your post that you have some hand gel. Good on you.

No panic, just sensible precautions. as I said my original post was, in a way agreeing with your point of view.
1. Mortality estimates can be over exaggerated.
2. Sensible precautions will almost certainly reduce the number of infections.
Please read my post again if you think think I meant something different.

Chairman of Rotherham United's League One rivals Accrington Stanley calls for EFL to pause season amid coronavirus concerns

I think we’d be better off trying to get the season finished quicker. No way you can delay the season to the summer in isolation from all other competitions and you’d be much better voting to draw the season to a close based on points per game rather than anything else for as fair as possible

Swine flu killed 457 people and cost £1.24 billion, official figures show

I believe in UK the final death toll was 457. Massively lower than even the best case government estimate, although it appears that the global mortality rate was a lot higher than reported.
The main problems with Coronavirus transmission rates appears to be the length of time it can live outside the body, on surfaces for instance, and its ability to transmit before symptoms appear.
Over this weekend I have been astounded by how many people I have talked to and read about who are still very complac

For a religious man you're showing a juvenile attitude to this matter.
At the Very minimum this is ten times more lethal than regular influenza.
Show some societal responsibility to others.

I can understand struggling clubs with injuries wanting to delay the season and using this to their advantage.

Clubs with momentum would not want anything to derail this.

Huh really?? I am trying to

How does the Wuhan coronavirus compare to seasonal flu?

More people are at risk from an economic downturn I am reliably informed and there are two different conversations happening on this thread. One is a balance between overreacting and panic and taking all necessary precautions to keep healthy the other and of more interest to most ccfc fans
is given the stage of the season how will this affect our promotion possibilities.

Of course we all know that our selfish football needs are not as important as our family and friends becoming really poorly and potentially passing away

Get to fuck if they want to delay the season. They can end it early so we win the league but get to fuck.

I am surprised Bolton haven't claimed their players have it so they can get out of playing when it's windy.

So at least a week more games then before behind closed doors

Can’t believe there’s nothing about deep clean or what happens if squads have to self isolate but that’s maybe a competition question rather than governmental

They have a few more cases than us at present, I guess the question is, is what we are seeing in Italy and to a lesser degree France, what will be happening here in a week’s time? Strong suspicion this will be the last game we get to watch this season — if we get to watch it.

They were saying today on the radio that part of the governments thinking is that if they put games behind closed doors people will gather in the pub instead. Does that mean they’d definitely stream them? What are France and Italy doing with that? Does anyone know?

Don’t see the need to call off games. Once it’s not a large gathering of people near to each other, what’s the issue?

In the quarantined area of Italy youre not allowed to sit within a metre of anyone else in cafe's restaurants etc. Wont stop people here going down the pub if the city game is on though, impossible to implement stuff like that if people aren't buying into the seriousness of it.

Sewers are going to be taking a hit if people start using kitchen roll or newspaper - still the rats could have the CET delivered down the pan as it is mostly garbage

Dodgy pubs will stream them anyway I guess.

Thing is, it is still a lot of people gathering in pubs which is indoors as well as opposed to an open stadium.

Exactly there are a few things clubs could do to help as I said higher up. Open gates and don’t use turnstiles.
Encourage people who are unwell with specific symptoms not to attend
You could even have sanitisers outside the entrances for people to use

There's no way they can really stop it.

If it's a game behind closed doors and we could win the league that game then people will congregate anyway.

Will it get to the point people will get arrested for congregating?

Apologies if this has already been shared but I read earlier that one of the options the government/Prem is considering, if they close stadia (and ban pubs etc) is to allow 3pm Saturday streaming. Presume EFL would follow suit.

It’s interesting to see countries different approaches. By all accounts our top medical professionals (involved in the planning/strategy) are as good as there is, so hopefully whatever they think is best is correct...even if some decisions may appear counter-intuitive.

For example, people keep talking about why we are allowing people off flights from risk areas without checking but I’ve seen medical expert comments saying any ‘on spot’ checks are pretty useless and just cause major back logs, people congregating etc etc. Also, as mentioned by others, other countries have already postponed sporting events or stopped fans from attending but our current view appears to be open air events with suitable guidance/common sense from the public are ok for the time being. I’m guessing the medical professionals/the governments current view is you don’t take these additional actions until the last possible minute, as they are likely to have to remain enforced for quite a period of time.

These messages probably need to be clearer, otherwise all we’ll hear is ‘France, USA and Italy are doing this, why aren’t we...’...when in actual fact a majority of these additional steps are unlikely to do much good (unless you go total lock down like Wuhan and possibly now in Northern Italy)
