Pretty sure it will be something else after the next time we are locked up for a while.

You've got to remember, other parts of the world have been through this more than once in recent times and got through it.
Saw a picture of a newspaper cutting from the States yesterday during the Spanish flu, police shot and wounded someone for not wearing a face covering!

Brilliant international cooperation for this new game changing vaccine. That’s the Great Britain we know and love!

We absolutely punch above our weight in terms of science!

On the final bend now and lockdown is essential and limited and sensible

Great stuff

I’ve thought more about that chap who tweeted yesterday. To his credit he has at least independently understood how a vaccine works! Just a shame he’s about 200+ years behind Edward Jenner

In my research group and many others British people are in the minority. Most are foreign and in particular from the EU courtesy of EU research grants. There really must be a way found to protect that after Brexit and the vaccines show why

Great news on the Oxford vaccine. One thing that’s puzzled me though is that they’re moving away from getting people both shots in 4 weeks in order to give as many people as possible the first shot and then the second 12 weeks later. I thought the vaccine was only effective after the second dose?

The effectiveness increased after two jabs but is still high after just one.

Cheers, makes sense to get as many people done first time round then. If they’re looking at capacity of 1m a week then that’s 12m people, plus whatever numbers are getting the Pfizer jab, with some level of protection before the end of March.

We’ve got a shit few weeks coming up but the end is in sight.

sometimes common sense and practicality have to take precedence over "political principle". Things like this example of medical research are a good example where it really does benefit both sides. It's like this new "conflict" the EU is having between data protection/privacy and the abuse of social media messaging for criminality, child abuse etc.

Science is collaborative by nature. Without going mega political it’s why there was nearly unanimous opposition to Brexit in the scientific community

Says we have ordered 100 million doses of the Oxford vaccine. More of the Pfizer one is inbound and as the Moderna one gets approved at some point we’ll have enough to cover everyone. If we can get every health worker done that would greatly speed up the rate of giving it to all the other groups

Apparently the Oxford one is more effective after one jab but the Pfizer more effective after 2 but DO'D said the Oxford team have announced they know how to increase the effectiveness of their jab.
Also a story this morning that they're trialling giving people one vaccine for the first jab and the other vaccine for the 2nd.

Just to confirm, in Tier 4 I can't play 5 aside outdoors in the fresh air or go to a gym thats socially distanced and heavily cleaned but I can meet my mates and have a chat in Tesco blocking up the aisles indoors around hundreds of other people?

I can also arrange to meet my mates at a place of communal worship to cram indoors?

Nice One.

In Tier 4 there can also be 15 people indoors for a "support group" for new parents / AA / People struggling with sexuality / Drugs recovery etc.

However 10 people can't play football outdoors which for many is a support group / therapy / exercise?

Makes sense.

It’s the fact that he was playing Downtown over a loudspeaker while telling people to clear the area.
Some should play downtown backwards. Clearly a subliminal message in there somewhere.

COVID-19: AstraZeneca teases 'winning formula' for Oxford jab, but WHO warns existing measures still vital

With two doses needed weeks apart, there is still some way to go before we can live a normal life again, the WHO warns.

But funeral attendances reduced to 6 in the same communal places of worship. It doesn't make sense.
Though a lad I know takes his elderly dad to church on Sunday and he told me they do observe the mask and social distancing guidelines well so why can't they do the same at a funeral?

You can have 15 people at a support group in a church hall.

It doesn't make any sense.
