Not sure how closing your borders is an issue here. It’s not like you can choose to ignore that is it?

Health and safety has nothing to do with it. It’s a zoonotic virus caused by close proximity of man to animals. We have cases of humans in the U.K. catching bovine TB every year, usually a farmer or vet. Only takes that to mutate and bang, you have a pandemic.

Which is a real issue with the anti-vaccinators. There’s groups of people with compromised immune systems for who taking the vaccine might not offer the same protection it does to others so they’re relying heavily on heard immunity to offer them protection.

A pandemic was one of the top 5 risk items acknowledged by the UK govt over the past 20 years. The ex Labour govt developed a plan to respond to such an event after SARS yet the governments post 2010 (austerity driven Tory wankers) did not ensure that the state had the capacity to deliver the plan.
Pandemics are expected, when I worked at an NHS Trust in 2014 they still had stocks from SARS, of course all that resilience is not funded in austerity world that clowns like you vote for.

That’s saying vaccines will still work. The comments are saying we are fucked. Reading the article would probably help.

Yup. Personally I'd rather caution before sending us all out to catch it anyway, so if it's a couple of months more to make sure we do it right, I'd sacrifice that for the next 40-odd years in return.

No but the country of origin, as you said earlier, has them dotted all over the place. Is there a point you’re trying to make or are you just typing random things?

yeah, the vaccine will still work but it reduces it's effect but as he says, will need more coverage.
It's not the end of the world but it's probably going to push things back which is starting to do my head in.
Probably not a wise move but I have booked several gigs and a trip abroad in the summer to give myself something to look forward to so anything that jeopardises that is going to piss me right off.

Yeah the whole thing is adding more time to the bollocks. 18 months was the original talK and it’s looking like it will be around that. Didn’t want to believe it at the time.

Weirdly I feel more at ease than now than a couple weeks ago. Oddly resigned to the fact it’s going on for a lot longer rather than champing at the bit to get into a pub.

You've still got another 40 years in you - think how good those gigs and trips abroad will feel, whenever they do happen

Now we're all off for a break, frankly I'm quite happy to sit at home for a couple of weeks, chat shite on the internet to strangers with a gif fetish, and eat too much. Wish I could do that for longer!

I’m in work every day for the next 2 weeks except Christmas Day. Busiest time of the year.

I’d be more annoyed if pubs were open. But I’ve known my shift rotation since the beginning of the year so I’m not annoyed. I am annoyed I’m in the office though.

And I’m annoyed people assume it’s feet up season.

So overall I’m annoyed.

Too dumb to work out that if you’re going to be a good liar you need a good memory, at least longer than 4 days.

Cases started going up in London before the end of the last lockdown. Mostly driven by this new strain. Not good. I suppose after yesterday's evacuation of London we will soon find out how quickly it can spread.

Typical coping cycle isn't it? I feel like it's never going to end some days but then think strangely how quick this year has gone I feel a bit better. Pretty much resigned to not going the match this season mind

The ideal would be a virus that spreads more easily, but loses some of its potency while it's at it.

Can but dream(!)

Each day seems to drag, but we're in December when I'm sure it was August just last week!

Guess that's what happens when every day turns into pretty much the same(!)
