Have it delivered instead.

(Although the takeaway I had yesterday gave me food poisoning! At least I could hold off my toilet visits for half-time and full-time!)

Stratford a lower case rate than Bristol but kept in T3, Warwick not much higher than Bristol either. As you do

Not naming where, as they're usually pretty good!

(There were fucking queues at McDonald's yesterday when I drove past the one on the A45 near Rugby. Even out of a pandemic, who needs to queue up for one at 3pm?!? It's never that busy in normal times!)

But Warwick is tied to Walsgrave, and it's having an impact on Warwick hospital too, that's getting more full. The rate has also been climbing back in Warwick, too. Dunno what hospital Stratford uses, but I have more sympathy with them, as they look more to Oxfordshire etc.

I believe the rising case rate in Warwick is down to rises in schools in that area

I can see the logic in keeping places like Stratford and Leamington in line with surrounding areas even if their numbers are lower. If things opened up there would you really trust people from the surrounding areas with higher rates not to pop over there for a day out?

Stratford in Tier 3 as it is linked to Warwick hospital which in turn is the overflow for Coventry.
Dad diagnosed with cancer in September and is being treated as a home patient as can't get into Warwick hospital. Been extremely difficult to get doctors/hospital appointments due to COVID.
Mum in floods as she'll be on her own this Xmas as can't go down to stay with my sister in Tier 2 Devon.

Turns out Stratford use Walsgrave (and Warwick is having to take Walsgrave patients, and is under strain itself now) as well, and cases are relatively low, but have doubled in the past fortnight.

So that's why it stays tier 3.

18,038 people in hospital in the UK with COVID right now - I can only find 7 day averages but that's more than when lockdown 2 happened and seems to be at it's highest since mid April.

That's a shame. Unfortunate all-round really, as not like I, or anybody, can offer to help! Are they at least tech-savvy enough to be able to Skype / teams / zoom / whatsapp video?

Sorry to hear that mate. Thought there was a plan locally to ring fence facilities as 'non-covid' to enable them to continue treatment using BMI, Nuffield and the cancer unit at Stratford. Maybe they just couldn't cope with the number of patients.

Stratford cancer unit very good but numbers an issue. Been getting treatment at Warwick but it's an ordeal with all the COVID protocols before each visit.
Also COVID protocols affect numbers of patients per day specialists can physically see. Dad is having hormone therapy to hold the cell levels until a treatment window becomes available if necessary. Means he can isolate at home but obviously in very high COVID risk group so only his wife allowed in the House.

Fella from Nailcote hall making a point on the radio that the government has recouped 2 billion from the returned business rates and there has been no indication of redistribution. He said he should go back to hospitality, I can't disagree with that. Pubs and restaurants are being shafted. If we have mass testing why can't they open for people who have obtained a negative test on the day and are not vulnerable? Just feel like some solutions aren't being investigated.

it's just madness that areas with lower rates are in tier 3 and areas with higher rates are in tier 2

No everything has to be ruined and mental health must be given bottom priority while expecting full compliance. People must be jailed for trying to see family and fined 10 grand for hosting a party.

There are, of course, many ways mental health issues will manifest itself during this pandemic, and each action could well have a result on somebody nagatively, including opening things up.

Forcing people to be alone at Christmas, as Chris Whitty wants, is something I can’t defend. Denying cancer patients treatment or even scans, not allowing people to receive medication for other conditions etc. All in case the great asymptomatic are unleashed.

I know I’m being irrational but I’m beyond sick and tired of it

It's not denying them, it's balancing up the risk. The capacity around our area is being strained, if we had no restrictions we'd have even less capability to treat cancer patients.

The NHS is always a balance of what needs treatment and what it can service, as it has limited resources. When those resources are pushed even more, than those cracks widen.

It is denying them treatment if you say they can’t go in and receive it. It’s equivalent to me denying a percentage of my classes being in the room
