Left (*guardian) and right (*Mail) both pedal negativity just from different angles. This is also echoed on social media bubbles on both sides. I don’t get it myself, especially in the middle of a pandemic. I’ve said before, god knows what would’ve happened if our current media/social media had been around during the world wars....no need for propaganda, our own media would’ve done enough to drag down the morale of the country.

Bizarre but guessing thats what sells/makes money. It’s a bit sad really but that’s the world we live in, people would rather find fault and negatively, than focus on the positives, especially if that negativity is aligned to their usual way of thinking or helps to re-enforce their own views

*just two examples but sure there’s more

It’s a shame that we even have lefty and righty media

For anyone who has been wondering what happens to the other 10% when there's talk of a vaccine with a success rate of 90% this article explains it in terms us non-scientists can understand.

Covid-19: Will a vaccine give us our old lives back? - BBC News

Why vaccines need to reach a huge number of people before we can safely ditch our face masks.
www.bbc.co.uk
Have to say it does make the idea of everything being back to normal by next summer seem doubtful.

The left negativity is about the corruption of the state and the cronyism involved.
The right negativity taps directly into peoples psyche by demonising minority groups and making them the reasons why the state had failed the general populous.

To compare them as balancing equals is not really accurate in the slightest.

why on Earth do people trot out this line about the Guardian representing the left?
It's a centrist left newspaper.

I read online articles in both and I see the Guardian as the Mails equivalent on the other side. Not saying either is far left or far right, just a lot of negativity in both

Let’s say it’s 6 months, then what. Another round or do we expect it to disappear during the immunity period with less potential hosts?

I’ve seen talk of booster shots every year or so. I don’t think it’s likely to disappear.

Based on nothing but my own paranoia I’m worried what happens if a bunch of people get the first shot but not the second. @Brighton Sky Blue do you know what the impact of that would be? Super virus? Just less immunity?

Eh. Mirror is the Mail I think, Guardian the Telegraph.

The opinion stuff is out there, the news fairly good. They don’t do the outright crap in the news sections like the tabloids.

Meant in terms of leanings and negativity. If I was being pedantic I’d say Mirror v Express are ‘‘equals’ but that wasn’t my point - it was more both papers are very negative albeit both can produce some interesting/decent articles

apologies for any offence caused to left or liberals, wasn’t the intention. Was just highlighting negativity on both sides

two up at half time so who cares !!! PUSB !

Ministers telling porkies about the reason we could approve the vaccine quicker is because of Brexit.

Looks like the decrease in cases has levelled off or even started to go back the other way, Wales came out of its lockdown and cases are increasing rapidly. Difficult to see how any 'normal' christmas is a realistic idea really with such a high residual case rate (that said my MSOA is down to 69 cases per 100k)

London will go into tier 3 early in January and the rules will change to make sure everyone goes in it with them. The Xmas break is a disaster waiting to happen as people can’t use their brain

Do you think that Welsh increase is purely down to coming out of lockdown. Not increased testing or a statistical fuck up? I mean I think I know the answer but it's a scarily quick increase.

They did leap beyond maybe where they should have gone, after coming out of their lockdown. Michael Gove(!) of all people was pointing that out, while justifying England keeping certain restrictions in place.

The world is bollocksed when I find myself agreeing with Michael Gove!

Cos the numbers started quite low the % growth does look massive to begin with, so it might just that

I have connections to certain areas of wales. I have heard that clubs and pubs are operating quite freely using the backdoor. They're all carrying on as normal and have been throughout the lockdown there.

Just imagine the emotions going around UHCW at the moment, patients and staff, and for the families of the people in there.

To have that tangible hope of belief that their loved ones will soon be administered this vaccine must be an amazing feeling.

Hats off to all involved and today is a metaphorical shot in the arm for all of us.
