Think they are going to need to clarify how they've worked this out. At first look the tiers don't really track with the case numbers or hospital admissions.

If people think its not valid are they less likely to stick to the rules?

Break the rules and do what though? Kick the pub door in and pour myself a pint.

Is pubs the only thing that's different? I've lost track to be honest with them keep changing things.

Just seen someone say no indoor exercise in tier 3 but gyms can open. How does that work?

What an absolute pit of shite this is. Can’t be fucked with it any more. We’ve just proven that things have got worse (with Cov moving from 2 to 3 and Nuneaton/Bedworth moving from 1 to 3) during the 4-week full lockdown, where there was basically only schools and essential shops open. Turns out it wasn’t all the pub’s fault after all.

How is London only Tier 2?

Because the infection rate is lower than it is in say, Coventry.

You'd almost think Children were vectors of transmission...

tbf, if momentum is sharply upwards before the move into the national restrictions, it'd keep going up. Same as if it's going down fast it'd keep going down for a while, even if you relaxed them.

I'm none the wiser as to whether 5 a side will be back on. What is high risk contact activity?

'organised outdoor sport, and physical activity and exercise classes can continue, however higher-risk contact activity should not take place'

The timing of these announcements has been absolutely brutal. Getting people to make plans for Christmas, and then announcing new restrictions straight after, right before the end of the lockdown is just such a gut punch. And ignoring the scientific pros and cons of a regional approach, it's only going to breed resentment between local areas (you can see it playing out already)

Every company should just open up now, they won't be able to close every single one.....this has gone on for far too long now for a virus that isn't going to disappear and is destroying peoples livelihoods

All the pubs should also take a stand and open, what they going to do shut them all?

It will. These things always do with time, anyway. Spanish flu is the fine example. Second wave of that was horrendous, third wave was pretty bad, then it started getting further away. Meantime, people can catch up in how to deal with it.

And that's the thing, this is short term pain for long term gain. This is a very small period of your life (hopefully) to maximise the chances of the rest of your life being pleasurable.

Exactly NW. it’s so hard to remember that but important to bring ourselves back to the why. It’s sacrifice now so we can beat this thing

With respect it's not a 'sacrifice', we don't have a choice, it's being imposed on us wether we like it or not, wether we agree or not.

Can't go to the football or the pub. I'm out cleaning windows and was hoping for good news on the tier front, but a customer has said no pub or football for me I'm afraid as it must have come up on the news. Gutted.

Got to hope with the vaccine that they realise this is something they can't mess around with and hand a huge contract to their mates with zero experience. If they fund the experts and leave them to it things should go OK.

Have really tried to give this government the benefit of the doubt up to now, as managing a nation through a pandemic cannot be an easy thing to do, but the amount of complete and utter fuck ups they have managed to deliver to the nation, time after time, knows no limits, and shows no signs of improving any time soon.
Have lost faith in their ability to govern the country in any way shape or form. I genuinely worry about the distribution of the vaccine with this bunch of arseholes in charge!!

Could do the tiers like the football scores on grandstand.
Coventry City 3 Liverpool 2
Isle of Wight 1 London 2
Newcastle 3 Leicestoh 3.

His idea of election campaigning was baking pies and hiding in a fridge, it was kind of a clue
