In my own mind that if sisu stay in charge of our club we will cease to be a league team before we leave sixfields. It's all about driving down expenditure.

It's all about winning the JR, that's what I'm convinced after listening to Labovitch. If we lose that, we might not have a club next season (depending on your definition of the club). Or she might sell. But who would buy, when you could pick up the naming rights at liquidation and for very little build a club quickly with a large fan base?
£40m in debt. No assets. No ground. A handful of players on short contracts and the rest kids.
What would you spend?

You are right shmee. I just wish we had been put out of our misery at the start of the season. The nopm will work, the danger and most likely outcome is a Darlington or Stockport though. Very very sad. Absolute wankers the lot of them.

Do you not agree that if you drive expenditure down by £1, but in the process lose revenue of £2, that you are worse off?

The question I would have asked ml is what do you mean by run as a business?
What turnover are you expecting to may 14
How is it going?
Whst is the wage budget and how are you performing against target?
The lack of clear sightedness in the last season in the championship saved the club say £1m in wages but cost it £5m in revenue for instance.
So sisu will find the losses? How much to may 14?
Clive asked about 3-5 years of 2000 crowds and the debt then being £80m and ml said he wasn't sure if the figure which I think is why schmee thinks jr or bust
He didn't even have plan b for no planning permission or plan b for if the plug is pulled by the owner.
It's an easy answer the £80m debt is a millstone and if the funding is stopped we stop too

They are not though are they. The debt is growing. All they have achieved is to reduce the cost and quality of their resources (players) and disengage themselves from their customer base at the same time as devaluing their brand name.

I think that the point is that you need a coherent and rational business plan.
Simply "driving down expenditure" can do more harm than good.
As things currently stand, I'm finding it difficult to discern what that plan is.
You're comment sounds good, but we've been "driving down expenditure" since the days of KD, yet revenues still appear to be falling faster.

Sisu have no interest in building the football club, they want to limit losses and try and get a big win via acquiring the Ricoh cheap.
I really hope no one is suggesting they are competent and have a coherent strategy or business plan, because after 6 years + we know they havent!

It's a difficult one, I believe we would have gotten relegated at some point probably the season after. The heartbreaking thing for me is, in our relegation season we were in the bottom 3-4 in terms of our turnover despite 9-10 teams averaging lower crowds than us.

I personally think that if they managed to get the Ricoh then they would still continue with the team as the two go hand in hand as we can already see. I also think nothing significant is going to happen until the judicial review. I can see this land application process carrying on "conveniantly" until then. One thing that I don't fully understand is this; if they were to win the judicial review how does it improve their chances of acquiring the Ricoh?

There will almost definitely be appeals following the JR lasting many months... and you are right even if Sisu win, an outcome may just be ACL acquiring finance elsewhere.

It won't if they can get enough compo they will drop the Ricoh and the team like a hot potato in my opinion.
They can afford the Ricoh
They can't afford a new stadium
The club is not worth 40 million
If they can convince the Judge the councils actions cost them 30-40 million and it is wrong.
They can ask the judge to implement a compensation order.
If you think someone handed SISU 30 million to walk away from CCFC today do you think they would take it.
In the mean time if they had had got the club promoted at the same time they could have sold that in the summer to go alongside the compo.
(Again just my wild speculation on the matter)

Difficult to say. Personally, I think that had we kept or replaced King we would have had an OK season - but we'll never know....
The only point that I was trying to make is that whilst controlling expenditure is "a good thing", this is dependant on the overall context in which this is taking place.
I used to have the odd exchange with Tommy Atkins who was very much in favour of KD's cost reduction exercise. I used to point out that (in my view) it was leading us to relegation, that would cost us a multiple of any savings.
That's not to say that running a football club is easy. It's bloody difficult and I would have great sympathy with any owners, if I believed that they had a rational plan that was trying to do the best for the football club.

True but I suppose it's a lot easier (Sixfields debacle aside) to implement cost reduction/wage restructure in league one, whilst remaining competitive with the FFP rules than in the championship.

I just don't get how sisu can win at all. Even if they get the JR decision, they aren't going to get the £7million they have lost last season in legal fees, and this alleged £30m already put in. Even with the most expensive of legal fees, I doubt very much they can justify claiming nearly $40 million in legal fees. And even if they did that would only break even! The council can of course ultimately absorb any legal fees (worst case), and after all this there is no way in hell sisu are going to be allowed ownership of the Ricoh. Were I in sisu's position I would be on bended knee trying to fix the relationship with the council. After all that has gone on, sisu have shown themselves to be utter unreliable. You would have to be mad to enter into a legal contract with these people. They were legally obliged to pay te rent - they just stopped paying! What is the point of a legally binding contract if they just ignore it if the terms don't suit their objectives anymore? sisu out
