Why do people keep going on about fucking Watford?
They're a basket case.

As for let down, get a grip.

Won't Norwich and Watford receive roughly 35 million in parachute payments before the start of the season? They have just sold Joao Pedro for 30 million and probably Ismaila Sarr for a reasonable fee also so will likely be strong in the transfer market as they have have just brought in a highly thought of football director and scouting team that helped Frankfurt win Europa. How many times have Norwich and Watford been promoted from the championship in relatively recent years, clearly know how to get out of this division.

Chelsea spent £600m and won f*&k all. Money spent doesn't always equal success.

Norwich had over £30m before last season with a parachute payment. We got to the PO Final - they didn't.

This is all true but it also clear to see why people may think Watford and Norwich may be able to challenge considering the parachute payments and players going out which is what my statement was responding to. It is interesting that Watford have also appointed a highly regarded footballing director and scouting team though.

Yeah but I've given the example of the parachute payments and Norwich - it doesn't mean they'll go up.

Not saying that they will definitely go up or that they will stay down, parachute payments clearly give teams an advantage though - not exactly hard to comprehend why they may be able to challenge next season is it.

Not sure Watford have the know how to get out of this division given the amount of managers and staff they go through.

Not sure the number of managers equates to much... They have been promoted twice in their last three championship seasons.

Well it means those with the experience and know how will have left the club.
They've been through 4 or 5 managers since their last promotion.

The average PL wage is £60k pw. The average championship salary is £7k pw. It's totally unrealistic to put Hamer and Vik on premier league wages (£6-7m per annum combined), let alone do that AND invest in the squad. Plus agents would soon realise how much we pay them and it would inflate the wage demands of any incoming players.

It's how we got in to the mess to start with.

Then compromise 30-40k it’s gonna be outweighed with a non promotion release clause anyway

It's only an advantage if they spend it well though.
