people need to read all of my posts regarding Conor Thomas as ive already said things that dispell what some of you are saying.

Someone please describe him as a footballer, something other than 'he has stamina and gives his all for 90 mins' can someone please tell me what he is good at?

No hill, ive already said it and ill say it again. I was saying that because people on here were telling me i dont know anything about football. i know a lot about football. If i wanted to gloat about having 'trials' (even though i was at acadamies from the age of 10) i would have brought this up a long time ago. and if i had made it i certainly wouldnt be sat posting on this forum. if im being told i dont know anything about football of course i will defend myself

If you read all my posts you will see that I am not Conor Thomas' biggest fan by a long chalk, so I don't need to 'take the next left out of his arse.'

He is doing a good job at the moment though and the system is working. We have now gone 8 matches in total unbeaten. Credit where criedit is due and he deserves his place in the side right now.

From reading posts people are saying he is a box to box midfielder. A box to box midfielder in MY OPINION is a jack of all trades so to speak with a great engine and is like an extra body in whatever phase of play the ball is in. This means they contribute in all areas; goalscoring, assists, good tackler, strong on and off the ball, bit of pace, a competent passer of the ball and a very good communicator.

According to this website http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-thomas/leistungsdaten/spieler/131980 in 99 appearances for the club he has scored 1 goal and has assisted 1 goal. I think Jim O'Brien has a better engine than him for a start. His passing ability isnt greatand i think he can be very weak on and off the ball. I think his concentration is poor and i dont really see him communicating well.


I suppose it will be better to put it this way, Conor Thomas does not offer the team anything that we dont already have.

A couple of points need to be made when assessing his appearances:

1) he made a third of those aged what 16-17, in the league above and in a relegation season in a team full of kids

2) he missed virtually the whole of 2012/13 out with injury so has had his development stunted.

3) last season both he and fleck were asked to do a particular job to sit deep and let the front 4 and fullbacks attack, fleck scored just once. Yes he made a few assists, but then he's a) a different type of player and b) he took corners and freekicks

How many goals and assists did Claude Makele score/make in his career?

[and I'm not saying he is Makele, gerrard or robson, or even busquest because he's no, he's just an average league one footballer, I can however appreciate what he does for the team]

As a side note There was interesting interview with Alonso basically saying that carrick gets completely overlooked because he's not flashy enough but is what he called an 'enabler' within a team, who allows others to do their job

In other words, don't waste 10 years trying to crowbar Gerrard and Frank Lampard into the team. Alonso dodges the bullet. "Hey," he says. "That's a press debate. I'm not saying that. But the collective ideal hasn't always been there. Paul Scholes maybe hasn't had the international career he should have. Or Michael Carrick: he makes those around him better, regardless of the fact that he's not the one who scores the most goals, or a great tackler."

Please please please don't tell me you think Thomas is an enabler? Please don't tell me you think he he makes other players look better. As I've stated, my opinion is my opinion Conor Thomas has no strengths, he is very weak for a centre midfielder and I don't think his passing ability is great. Someone said Claude makalele but he was a natural born winner. Can you say Conor Thomas is any of those things? He's just not.
