Think house prices and crime rates there are another level. Not pretending Pompey is a rich man's paradise by any means. Far from it - it's certainly not as wealthy as Bournemouth or Brighton, the two other south coast areas with football teams, but it isn't even a contest that Stainsville is the biggest dump down south!
I've lived in Southampton and I now work often in Portsmouth.I live on the outskirts of Pompey and used to work at Southampton FC. I can tell you that although Pompey has its shit areas (like everywhere), it’s better than Southampton.
And by and large, the people are much nicer in Portsmouth as well. I just found the majority of people in Southampton...well, just a little bit weird.
