I only look at this thread to see if there has been an announcement, which there has not.

But you can reasonably assert that Chaplin is not forcing a move otherwise the agent would have made something happen regardless of Jackett's preferences surely? Therefore m'lud I suggest to the jury that Chaplin is actually quite ambivalent about leaving Pompey (incidentally did he really sign for them at 6 years old - 6 years old!!).

In which case, are we right to continue this? If he is not bothered either way, I am not sure he is going to settle here. I smell a disaster - over paid, not settling, fans disgruntled etc etc...

It's a bit more complicated than that
We've probably made an offer at a level we can afford which Portsmouth will know we can't vastly improve for several reasons, mainly FFP and that we don't have heaps of money
The lad or his agent are not in a strong position because of this and the player could risk being stuck and not playing if he makes a fuss
McNulty was different
He wasn't agitating for a move but Reading came in with offers which the club repeatedly refused until it got to a level other clubs were unlikely to exceed
We didn't want to sell but McNulty's agent then made threats that his client would sulk and make trouble
McNulty is probably on 3 or 4 times what he was on here and there will have been a six figure signing on fee
There will be nothing like this in a deal for a young unproven player between clubs in the same division
As things stand it's Portsmouth who call the shots

Three days to get the three signings Robins wants for the squad.
This whole saga is getting boring and I would question whether any of the Mcnulty money will be spent regardless.

Our season won’t revolve round the Scunthorpe match win, lose or draw. Got until August 31st ffs!

How can a signing a day (or not) ever be boring?

It may end up very frustrating. Then again it might end up very exhilarating!

Only for loans, transfer deadline is next week.

We could obviously sign someone on loan with a view to purchase in January though but starts to get a bit more messy after next week.

Probably. Or maybe probably we've offered some money and Portsmouth don't have a fucking clue if we can improve it or not because they don't know how much money we have like every fucker else but Jackett hasn't found his number one replacement yet and he's being a precious prick about it because he knows Chaplin won't kick off.

It's said that players have the power now but that's not the case in the lower divisions unless the player is being chased by club(s) from the top two divisions

Surely his contract won't be that long will it? Must have an awful lot of clauses and caveats in it if it's that big.

Think it might stretch to 39 now Otis
The extra page will be because of his new demand for a helicopter ride to Ryton every morning as per Misfud.

I think there are some suppositions there with little evidence but you may be right. Still think it true that the long drawn out nature of this means it is less and likely that it is the right thing to do. Time to move on and find another target

Un named league 1 club has bid (believed to be around £300,000) for Danny rose. Has MR Chandged his target ?
