Apologies if this has been discussed but where would signing Chaplin leave Andreu? We would surely need to play another striker alongside Chaplin which would leave Tony benched or out wide. Should we not be targeting a player who can lead the line on his own with Tony in behind?

From what I have read Andreu has been our most consistent player i think he’ll start for definite.

If we don't sign Chaplin, will this be a record breaking thread length for a player we have't signed? Where's Jim Brown when you need him.

I think so, SkyBlueRuffian’s Baker Richardson thread last year reached 31 pages

3 more pages to beat the iconic ‘Portsmouth - what on earth’

Portsmouth- what on earth

The biggest thread I’ve seen on here is the Brexit one unsurprisingly which is on page 512, nearly 18,000 messages and growing by the hour

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

NEWS: 50% off advertising boards in start of season offer!

If we all chip in a tenner we could get a 'New Striker Needed Urgently' in time for the weekend.

To be fair on the Brexit thread Mad Mart accounts for 15,000 messages by himself.

Davies is a former teammate though ... that tweet is from a random cov fan in May with Shipley in (who he’d have no connection with?)

its so obvious robins is waiting till very last min to see if we can get this one over line

so lets wait and pray with him rather than instantly go for a plan b that might not be as good

Yes we might have to wait up until the deadline. Plan B might be a loan and back in for Chaplin in January if needs be.

512 pages??? Fuck me that makes the Old Testament look like a pool side read!! I’m guessing I don’t have to read the whole 512 pages to guess its full of bad language and regular accusations of racism?!

If it happens it will be 16:55 on Thurs 9th Aug.
Usually the English summer transfer window closes at the end of August, but this year, the official deadline has been set at 17:00 BST on Thursday, 9 August.

Well Nantes announced a signing using a Fortnite clip.
Lucas Evangelista: Nantes create Fortnite clip to announce new signing
A fortnight doesn't do this protracted saga justice though. '28 days later' is much more appropriate!

It has to really be today or tomorrow we tell them it's all or nothing and then walk away.

You would really like to think while this has been going on we have been looking at alternative options and getting them sorted so if he doesn't work out we can just go for plan B. It would be very naive of Robins and the new recruitment guy to put so must trust into Portsmouth.

Jackett might just be stringing us along to weaken a potential rival.

Exactly.

We really can't have put all the eggs in that basket to wait until the last day for them to say "Sorry, not for sale HAHAHAHAHAHAA LOLZ".

If we have, the new recruitment guy should probably clear his desk and Robins would have some questions to answer.

It should be that we say "We will wait until Wednesday, let us know"

Tuesday comes and some random striker rumours get fed

Pompey will think "shit, they are going elsewhere here"

In the meantime Robins and the recruitment bloke are looking at a few different ones and speaking to their clubs to get a basic idea on what it would take for us to get them, Pompey either don't reply on Weds or piss about and by Thurs we go ahead with one of the other options.
