I'm thinking about getting one but are they actually any good? I enjoy a latte about 3-4 times a week so wouldn't need a top end one and be looking up to about £50-£60 max for it.

I bought a Nescafe Dolce Gusto Coffee Machine a couple of weeks ago for me and the missus. It is unbelievably quick! The water is at boiling point in about 8 - 10 seconds. We like the Espresso coffee pods but have just bought a box of Mocca today and I must say, it is fabulous! The pods are a tad expensive, working out to around 54p a cup but you pay for what you like. We get ours from Sainsbury's but Poundstretchers do them a bit cheaper. However, there are a lot cheaper options buying directly off the net. These are "compatible" capsules. It's just a case of shopping around. Having said all this, I would still recommend a machine if you like your different types of coffee. Ours cost £49.99 from Argos. Oh, and if you do buy different pods, make sure you read the packet. It will say either 8 or 16 pods. If it states 16, then that means you need to use two - one of each pod in the box (coffee and milk for example). And check your cup sizes! Believe me, that is important as well! Don't try filling up a normal coffee mug (220ml) for a small espresso! It don't work and tastes awful and weak! (We found a great set of small 50ml espresso cups in a charity shop, so look around!

I have a delongi expresso machine, love it before I go out on a bike ride. The issue is that these machines have a very short shelf life..

Had a Kitchen Aid Artisan for a few years now. Pricey but worth every penny. Makes a fantastic cup of coffee every time.
If you are looking for coffee I would recomend a site called Hasbean, fantastic selection of coffees from all around the world delivered to your door.

I bought a Dolce Gusto but it was only a £50 one like this:

DOLCE GUSTO by Krups Melody 3 Hot Drinks Machine - Ivory

It is ok and we hammered it for a while but we don't tend to use it any more Also found there wasn't as wider selection of pods to have as others. The other thing was that it didn't stop automatically so you had to watch for the liquid to start going see through and stop it. Some others will automatically stop at the right point.

I got a Nespresso Machine for Xmas last year. Use the Aldi or Amazon pods so they aren’t too bad. No idea what it cost but it’s rick solid and not one of the pricey ones.

I've got a Nespresso. It was just over 100 quid and has an aerocino milk warmer / frother. Decent and not as much faff as a proper espresso machine.

Got a Bosch Tassimo as a gift last xmas, loved it until it started playing up on and off and finally croaked a few weeks ago. I really experienced some rage against the (coffee) machine. CAFFEINE IN THE NAME OF!!!!

Note that the cast pronounce it espresso even though the title says expresso.

Afternoon lads, Aldi are doing coffee pods which can be used in a nespresso machine, 10pods for £1.69.

I've not tried them yet but thought I'd give you a heads up

The Aldi Nespresso pods are good, including the Decaff one. The best one the Ristretto pod. I also bought a special gingerbread pod from Aldi before Christmas which was decent.
Lidl do pods also, their Ristretto ones are good too.

Haha I've been using one since 2009!! Yes she is indeed and has the caffeine addiction to prove it I'd recommend getting at least a 3 cup one and filling a mug a third full with milk and topping it up with the coffee from the moka.

Aye.....moka for me too.....a large bialetti express to be precise......used to have a medium that was well worn in but my Mrs killed it by putting in the dishwasher!

Great coffee and no environmental vandalism with all these stupid pods either......

I have 4 of them now ranging from a 1 cup up to an 18 cup.

It's a winner alright.....its the nice little methods and procedures you develop over time too......its very much like skinning up.....its all in the preparation.

You can use an Espresso pod for long drink anyway. Have you got the Aerocino?

I end up just going back to instant and banging that down, have loads of pods left but might get it out again.

Yeah the one I bought has one attached to it. Been having a lot of latte's and have been using the espresso pods for a long drink too, but I find you need a bit of a stronger one to get a decent cup

This was my post from a coffee machine post a while back...... "I suppose it depends what your budget is and how much you like your coffee, I have had a few machines over the years but I know have a Krups EA826E bean to cup and it's brilliant, it did cost me over £600 but I hammer it (you can pick them up for about £400 now). However, I have always found that good quality coffee in a cafetiere is fine if you just want a nice cuppa"

Anyway, It's just died about 3 weeks after the warranty ended, just started pissing water out the bottom and showing loads of errors. I loved it but it was bloody noisy, Iv'e reverted back to my grinder and cafetiere.

My wife got me one of those Tassimo machines for Christmas, a Bosch one. She mainly got it because I am a bit of a latte man. Actually, though that is the worst of all the coffees with the machine, mainly because it is made of water rather than milk. Some of the other "normal" coffees such as the Americano's are lovely. The pods are always on sale somewhere or other. It's great if you want a quick cup.

When we have time we have a cafetiere or pot of perculated coffee.
