Interesting this has come up straight after Brody's interview in the CET. Are they worried about upsetting the council?? Bit late for that now!!

(Sorry if link already posted on another post)

probably but the fact the Council have never wished to pick up the phone, who ever the owners are then you know we have problems outside of the club as well as in it!!!

First post - watched for so long... (Fells a bit dirty)

I didn't get this at first and then I re-read Brody's interview and then re-read the statement...

Anyway - here in lies the reason for the statement:

1. Brody states RE: paying that rent "“It is not sustainable to have a team in the Championship paying north of £1million in rent, especially at an arena where the average attendance is anywhere between 12-17,000 depending on the game"

In other words - he left because unless they get a share of the ground (which they don't have the money for anyway and sounds like the council aren't keen on giving it to them - but haven't yet said 100% fuck off) then the business model isn't going to work - they can't find a way of making a profit.

2. He's basically just officially informed any interested parties that SISU can't get this to turn a profit or break even, unless the council again give them a share - which they wont do

Meaning - that he's just told any interested parties (Inc. Hoff, if he has someone waiting) that its a wait game - they don't have a plan to break even and the council wont sell. Sooner or later, they will have to vacate

So the statement is to bluff:

1. Any vultures (Or doves as we see them)
2. The council - in case their bull shit spiel is having an effect on winning them over - to stop them saying 100% fuck off

Think of it like this...

It's a bit like lying in a bunker shitting yourself while a large army is approaching to get you and in a last ditch attempt you shout over "Stay back... there's fucking loads of in here and we've got a bomb!"

First post over!;)

I would suggest that it ws not Leonards own decision to leave the board, especially when read Dulieu's comments about the King fiasco.

Good first post mexico88, welcome aboard! I particularly approve the use of metaphor :)

Yes, it isn't exactly the kind of statement SISU needed, is it? I'd like to think that the Brody interview could be directly quoted by bidders during negotiations. They're scrambling to distance themselves from his interview and claim that they are not views that they share. Rather than see it as a plea to reduce the rent, maybe it was just an admission of failure-and I'm sure he thought he was speaking for the board

Bottom line has nothing to do with the stadium. The business model doesnt work because they have divorced the playing side from the business model when it suits them. A football clubs product is the results on the field and if that is poor then the financial model however it is put together doesnt work. The rent is a problem because the product is very poor. Rent wasnt a problem when they took over and has not changed in value ..... what has changed is the CCFC product. The rent isnt over the top for an average team but it is for a poor one because they get no value from the product...... and its the paying fans that give the product value in the end. More smoke and mirrors.

Owning half the stadium gets them no income as things stand currently.

Right now SISU cant work a deal
- they cant finance it
- the business model doesnt work
- they cant prove that they have a handle on the finances
- the council dont want to sell (why should they, the only reason we have a ground is because they and the charity financed it!)

Have read that some see the Council & ACL as the problem behind the scenes, well that view point only applies if you view it from a CCFC perspective. If you turn it around and look from their perspective then they are doing exactly the right things by protecting their investment and a Coventry landmark. They have to account for their actions and protect the majority of ratepayers in Coventry not be charitable once more to a failing club led by London financiers supported by less than 20000 of the populace. Why should they do CCFC any favours ? The Ricoh is not solely reliant on CCFC - all concerned prefer them to be there but it is not the bargaining tool some think in CCFC gaining ownership of the stadium - check out the ACL accounts rent of £1.2m is about 20% of the income with total income expected to increase in the coming years. I see no problem in the current ACL owners rebutting bargaining positions taken by CCFC

OSB correct me if i'm wrong but our rent pays 2 yrs lease ,ACL recieve £12.5m. from compass to operate the stadium ,then compass achieve profit by operating below that threshold, last two yrsACL turned profit of around £4m. each year ,less circa £2.5m on improvements.

Hoffs consortium have the funds to buy back our 50% share of the arena immediately so they are a lot diffrent to sisu.

they mite also sign a few players aswell which wud be nice :D

just need it to happen asap now, i have a feeling sisu will remain until they have nailed our relegation place tho, the feeling i get is that if they cant turn us around and get their hands on the ricoh (which they wont) then they will do their best to fuck us up before they leave, which they are doing already by not strengthening the side and signing up our mediocre at best players on massive long term deals!

evil bitter bastards.

Did you see the Comic Strip Tony Blair thingy on 4 a few months back? I think it'd be a bit like that with Ken; I get the feeling that he really does believe some of his own lies, such as his version of events at Southampton.

SISU made a big play of a united board a few months back, well it is only united because the disidents abandon ship.... it is all falling apart, faster & faster, we have daylight in sight :p

yes know what you mean 'nlhwc',
maybe utter ridicule IS the way to provoke an honest retort from them,
i was going to say subtlety, but i think that would take an aerial route above their craniums,

This is how the real people felt when The Reich was tumbling in 1945..."boy are we going through some shit right now, it's going to get worse before it gets better, but it's what we have to take to be able to come out the other side".

Too much? :thinking about:

Divide and conqour ( sorry about the spelling) that was the Sisu aim amongst the fans with their blithering statements of how they have pumped money into us and how grateful we should be. Some Fans supported these cretins. Yet now its come back to bite sisu on the bum, as they are obviously divided and why?

When people realise that there is know way back and they are going to lose money suddenly 'freinds' turn against each other and the end game is approaching.

GOOD THIS MEANS THEY ARE BEGINNING TO HURT.................. at last we have something in common with sisu
