Glad to hear that there are at least formal talks and that they're willing to discuss their plans for next season. It's not much but it some progress that they are being formal about it.

This is the first time the club have made a written statement like this I believe? I honestly think they planned on getting relegated so they can rebuild in League 1. It could actually be an interesting summer.

Brief, but an attempt at communication at least.

Brief but factual, no made up shit like they have done in the past.

What are they talking to the council about? If it's anything to do with the Ricoh, surely they should be talking to ACL. Are they trying to get a reduction in rates for the training ground?

this was my first thought. are they trying to go over ACL's head and if they are shouldn't they also have someone from Higgs there? Maybe this meeting is more than just a 'we want to pay less rent' meeting.

I cannot imagine that the Higgs Charity were not involved.

It is a step forward that there are discussions going on and that the club are prepared to be a little more open about things. I am guessing that is TF's influence

They are I would guess looking at all the options, just that some are more likely than others

Maybe i am reading too much into it , but :-

"to discuss the club's tenency at the Ricoh arena and to explore different options for moving forward"

To me this is more than how much we pay, but much more fundamental eg Where do we play ?

Common sense will play it's part once all the protagonist have left their ego's at the door.

It's clear they will need to arrange a new deal for the rent. It's clear they will need to have a dialogue on the Ricoh forming a future part of CCFC.
It's clear they will need to have a deal where revenue streams are made available to CCFC from the Ricoh.

Like I said in a previous post somewhere....this is the only choice for SISU and the Council. It's not a question of not doing something but what can we do. There will be no freebies. Deals subject to contractual agreements must be made with deadlines, time lines and the like agreed.

:thinking about:hmmm....

SISU: We can't afford the rent at the Ricoh now we're in Division 3.

CCC: Yes you can.

SISU: Well OK then I suppose we can, but that's less money to buy players for the squad.

CCC: That's your problem.

SISU: Couldn't you let us pay less rent and give us the option of buying at least 50% of the Ricoh?

CCC: Why should we? You've had five years in charge and have been an unmitigated disaster. CCFC has gone from bad to worse. Relegation was inevitable after you decided to sell Jutkiewicz. We don't even know who owns our once proud club.

SISU: Well, how about we try communicating more with the fans, and come back to you with a really positive business plan?

CCC: And pigs might fly. Try submitting the accounts first, proving you are honest about your intentions.

SISU: Oops! I thought everyone had forgotten about that small matter.

CCC: Not at all - true Coventrians never forget!

Not sure where this leaves the Hoff - my guess is we've got Sisu for another year. Don't know now whether that's a good or a bad thing?

If they invest and get us back to the Championship with a competitive team then I have no issues with them, despite that past lies. I just want future success for the club regardless of what has happened previously or who may be at the helm.

Pay less rent and put the money into the squad to get back up. Then rent goes back up again?

Interview with cet. Meeting with council. Now we need to se embargo lifted 8 signings. Then they will have been true to their words. People should then buy season tickets

A definite step forward. It sounds like something constructive is happening. I hope Mutton was biting his lip and not being an idiot, considering he "loves the club".

And their previous non-communication. Maybe, I'm gullable but I'm really hoping they have learnt from their mistakes and realise that they need us on side if Coventry City is ever going to progress.

Struggling to work Sisu out at the moment - everything they've done in the last week fly's in the face of the liquidation rumours.

Very early days yet-the interview told us nothing of substance; good that dialogue has finally started, but there's a long way to go before they win anyone's trust just yet. No questions raised about ARVO yet, for instance.

Let's renegotiate the rent....but make sure this money does not go to SISU's faceless investors....but to AT to buy some players.

errr I think that you have to bear in mind that the rent savings would be to reduce losses..... it doesnt mean there is a pot of money to sign players!

I also think everyone should keep in mind that all options are still available .......... that includes investment in club all the way down to liquidation. Nothing has changed, they still cant pay the bills, they still have falling income, they still have no plan we are privy to, they still make losses........ a couple of press releases have not changed that ......... the club is still in a financial mess and dropping the rent wont address even 25% of that

What the feck is going on with these useless scumbags.

Its all too late SISU, no-one likes you and no-one wants you here anymore. You've decimated a once great and proud club, just go back to London where you all belong.

Too much damage done, its too late. Go and take your EXPERTISE somewhere else

Councillor Kevin Foster, Coventry’s Conservative party leader, said: “The Ricoh is an asset for the taxpayer.
“If Sisu were just given it, it would just go to service debt and we wouldn’t see a penny going towards players and the club.
“But I think the council has to be realistic and hard line rhetoric isn’t going to get us anywhere.
“How far are we willing to push this if the club can’t pay? If the club goes bankrupt how much is that contract going to be worth?”

That is sensible.....

I want to see Seppalla confronted directly with the ARVO story-no hiding behind e-mails or website statements, give the supporters of this club a forum where direct answers will be given to questions. It is the very, very least we are due after 5 years of cloak and dagger type operations and half statements from Ken, Ranson, and Onye. If you cannot talk face to face with the supporters of Coventry City, then don't bother promising to build bridges. We have serious questions and serious concerns-and deserve proper answers without having them relayed through a 3rd party.

In the last hour...

Cllr. Kevin Maton ‏ @Cllr_KevinMaton
There is a case for the football club discussing the rent with arena co & shareholders. Better option is arena co sponsoring a .player

Cllr. Kevin Maton ‏ @Cllr_KevinMaton
SISU need to make a business case to arena co which must mean them opening their books to scrutiny by arena accountants / legals etc

I agree with that. If they mange to keep Keogh and Cranie along with some solid L1 players i would see it as real progress.

funny isnt it

If they buy some players to help with our push in League One it will be seen as progress

Yet, we have forgotten they could have prevented us going into that league with one or two signings...

hmmm

Don't think anyone can suggest things are forgotten or swept away under a new tide of optimism but some credit to Ms. Joy who appears to be making the right choices now and buying a couple of players earlier would simply have decimated finance's even more as wages were double each week of any player we could have got than that of a league 1 player. In all likely hood we would have gone down anyway.

SISU have been cutting their cloth to suit for some time now and as hard as that is it was their only choice. It's no good dreaming of Hoffman characters, they are not in any of these scenario's and don't look like being so either.

In the long term serious investment is what the council are looking for for the whole site, to build hotels and other infrastructure and then with such investment they would have to look at relinquishing their hold on the Ricoh under a warranted plan. That clearly is not Hoffman's guys. If SISU stabilise the club and have incentive from the council to enjoy revenue streams of the Ricoh then that will attract a buyer and ultimately larger investors to the whole site, something the council are seeking long term.

Everyone must find a way out of the current situation and be prepared to scratch each others backs a little.
I would suggest SISU don't blow any opportunity they get and quickly come through with a plan that works for all parties concerned.

While they are at it address some of the outstanding discrepancies regarding the shifty appearance of the various company set ups we have all heard about.

It's good in a way as sisu will have to give thorn a budget or the council will not move. A lot of people have slagged off mutton on here. I know nothing about him but I think he maybe achieving something.

paxman i have no problem with them cutting their cloth to suit but hacking the CCFC tree with a axe and expecting it to keep on growing is taking the piss and thats what got us relegated along with the numerous clown board members we have seen !! and as for a pre scripted reply which says nothing apart from we want to own the stadium because we want all the revenue from it and possibly to secure more loans and debt on it, because we have no money left is a joke they have no sympathy from me .
they he lied constantly about player sales, embargos for the past 4 years and you think one joke questionaire is going to erase all that ?? no chance SISU have fooked up big time they got us relegated and now really are in the crap less income no more assets to sell and now joy crawls out of her finnish palace saying we have made mistakes !! well she can stick it up her arse where was she before ?? hiding taking the piss out of all the fans she stole the shares from to save us ?? if we had the chance of SISU or admin i would take admin and relegation everytime in place of this pile of shit that own us !! they have made no progress or offered a olive branch they are trying to save there own arse plain and simple !!!
