Serious question folks..

Any idea what actually goes on at Ryton in the first days of the close season?

I assume each player is given a fitness programme maybe a squad talk and then they all go off on their holibobs, it would interesting to know

i do wonder with the amount of analytics in the game would there be a breakdown of the season regarding it.

even out of interest saying that, for example, saka ran the most on average per game, MVE was the "fittest" etc.

From what im aware of they go in for their final 'warm down' session, have a group meeting about the overall season etc

Then they are free to do what they like until 1st July, but within reason, as they are given a weight and body fat target to come back within.

Most of the squad tend to go away end of May (co inciding with half term school holidays for those with kids) for 2 or 3 weeks and indulge in a few beers, a kebab or 2 and why not, but as I say they have a target the club sets them to come back within

Those who will be being let go will have already been told

Footballers are hyper professional these days, spme of them have done their own pre pre season warm weather training camps previously. It's not like years ago where they went on the piss for 6 weeks and came back overweight.

Which makes you wonder about the benefit of sending them away for six weeks really. Why not have them in training if they’re going to be doing it anyway, even if at a more relaxed pace and the ability to take a holiday.

Six weeks seems a bit long though. Why not a couple of two weeks or something. Or at least offer something within the club over that time.

Because it's a legal requirement to be given just less than 6 weeks leave (including bank holidays) and they don't get holidays during the season including all of the coaching staff.

They spend enough time at the club as it is. Some fans would have them training every day They need a break from the club environment. Remember they work most weekends, Bank Holidays and Christmas as it is.

It's not all about physical fitness. Football is mentally fatiguing. It also involves a lot of travel.

Just seems silly to have them all doing individual training while the club is sat there.

It's their time and their choice. I am sure club facilities are available to them if they wish. Also some of the coaching camps are run by top coaches. It's a new voice and perhaps specializing in certain skill sets. Not just general fitness. Also training with other players you don't normally train with can be beneficial as well.

they started on pitch replacement at Ryton on Monday so unless they just want to do gym work there's no point them being there.

pretty sure most of the players live closer to a gym than ryton, or have the stuff at home, but if they needed to use it they probably could.

There's no real need for an official "Transfer List" anymore. Players will be told they are free to find another club, if they wish, and their agents will contact every club think think suitable.

I expect it will be in the next couple of days.

It was the 9th May last season (season finished on 4th May).

The year before it was the 30th May (Play off final was the 27th).

If you work full time, I don't think footballers do, do they? How longs a normal training day? I know it's not 8 hours and nors a home match day.

Six weeks is absolutely too long in schools. The hit poor kids take over the summer is significant. Two three week breaks spread out would be much better.

Yep, looking forward to my break too tbh although I would have liked just one more ...

On the upside I've saved a few quid, an inevitable heartache and I get to enjoy the final, not as a neutral as I can't stand either fanbase, but I will get to enjoy the losers, seeing the one set who suffer and that will bring a cheery smile to start my summer. The upside is I also get to see either Wilder or O'Nien upset too. Hopefully a red card for O'Nien or a bad refereeing decision to annoy Wilder too

Can't stand either team, nor the names you have quoted, however from a purely selfish point of view for next season, I want rid of Sheff Utd out of this league
