The things is, he isn’t even hiding his loathing for our club (or SISU). It’s clearly a personal vendetta against them and hiding something. This fucker and the others need exposing, I bet all these deals with the uni aren’t squeaky clean either...

I think it’s understandable for him to have a hatred for sisu but he and Cllr Duggins are clever enough to know they are not ccfc. They are also not stupid when it comes to economic impact. We have a civic service at Holy Trinity on Sunday and I’m hoping Cllr Maton is there so I can have a quick word in my choir robes. Already checked with Cllr Duggins that he’s not going to be there. Hoped to say hi

Any dig at SISU is a dig at the club at the moment, his comments basically wash his hands with the process. Wants to protect his new play thing and couldn’t give a shit about the impact this is having for us fans.
I hope you have a ‘strong’ word with him on Sunday fella!

I know we think that but dispassionately it’s not the case. They thought they could separate the two but didn’t play the game as cleverly as Sisu at administration stage and they know they can’t make the owners leave. Interestingly Sisu selling is was more likely in the championship with a half share in an asset or a new stadium so you’d think again that clever councillors could do the math

They all made it too personal. Still so much seems to be about ego.
Eg. ACL statements telling the owners to sell up and get out of Coventry not conducive to constructive decision making. Everyone may have been thinking that but wasn't helpful.
An ill-conceived school of thought back then that they would just cut their losses and hand over the club to new owners.
Until something is sorted with a stadium the club remains an unattractive investment.

I think he and others who have pushed a Wasps agenda now find themselves backed into a corner with no choice but to keep up the pretence that Wasps are good for the city of Coventry. As the striped ship sinks the rats will look to clamber up onto the Sky Blue liner as it cruises back into the big time.....our job is to prize their fingers off one by one and push them back in.

Exactly said that for years. Even before Wasps came along and many were saying they would protest if SISU got hold of the Ricoh, I always pointed out that is the only sure fire way to get rid of them. They have something to sell.

Local media won’t do shit. We have to do it for them. If we can contact them all and get a ‘pro-Ccfc’ candidate in each warm I’m happy to assist in any way I can from afar.

how much would a leafleting campaign cost ?

The power of social media has already been shown. This is why it's important there is a clear separating line between any future candidates whom want to come forward, and the fans groups.

The reach fans groups have into the lives of the people of Coventry on the internet is far more then any of the politically parties.

Seeing also that Coventry has one of lowest turnouts in the country in Local Elections, this should make the job an awful lot easier.

E-flyers are free to make and easy to deliver online.

I guess there must be some amongst us who have the skills and time to contact all the candidates in the upcoming elections to ask whether they support fans of the local football club in their struggle against Duggins and his cronies
If we find representatives* in every ward we can publicise this through as many outlets as possible - it will probably develop a life of it's own online which the local media will almost certainly have to acknowledge
*Excluding extremist parties as this would discredit our case

Agree with that. These guys have reputations on the line, sink or swim. And under collective responsibility they have to stand behind the policy decision even if privately they don't agree with it.

My current councillors are all Conservative. Going to drop them a mail and see if they agree with Duggins.

Will put it from a business POV rather than football, ie: do they agree with Duggins that the council has no role to play in assisting a business worth in excess of £10m a year to the local economy in returning to the city and if so does that apply to all businesses or just CCFC.

I'm not in Coventry obviously, but this is a great idea. Nick, the SBT Twitter account has loads of followers. If we could ask candidates in different Wards if they support City coming back to Cov, etc etc then you could put out a heroes and villains type tweet; those who are supportive and those like Maton who aren't.

What we need is a network of independent councillors that the main footballing communities on social media and beyond have the confidence to throw their weight behind with the forthcoming Local Election.

Labour is already predicted to lose badly in these elections, up and down the country.

If people are willing to come forward to stand on an independent platform then we should try to facilitate the network between them, and use all our presence on social media, as independent fan forums, to do what we can for them with campaigning.

Who is local and would fancy a shot at being an independent councillor?

I agree something along these lines is the way to go about it. No way any of these councillors should be serving but most people aren’t aware of what’s happened.

I know a third of seats are usually up for grabs in the Local Election every three out of four years.

This coming year is definitely a voting year.

With the rumours circulating that Labour Councillors have not got the support of their local grassroots, and new Councillors will be put forward by Labour in certain seats

It may be worth a thread in the General Chat here to follow all what is happening with each seat.

It is CCFC related, as long as we keep the tribal politics out of the thread it should be a good one.

in Holbrooks I think it is Rachel Lancaster's seat which is up for grabs.

We do a need to organise a list etc.

If anyone wants to know how Rachel Lancaster has been doing over the last 4 years..

Here are some choice headlines.

If you think you can do better or Coventry deserves better then it may be worth putting yourself forward.

We should make a concerted effort to take Maton out at the next election! As you said e-flyers can be quite destructive

I've said it before our local council is not fit for purpose for the 21st century, nothing against people that do these jobs I hold them in the highest regard but we have ex dustbin men, Bernie Inn shop stewards, Shop floor workers high up at the council making big multi million pound desicons. Most businesses will have directors and chairman fit for purpose with the relevant qualifications and nouse something the numptys on our Labour council don't have!

Not having a go at you but as someone that works for a charity this gets me going as it’s the same side of different shit that people give to a charity. A CEO might earn loads of money but do you want someone who can run a large organisation or do you want someone that was chugging a few weeks ago.

The officers make the plans and the decisions in reality. The problem really is that the councillors will go with their advice as they don't know any better.

...and the senior council officers are the exact same executive class you find in the private sector, increasingly with the same bizarre obsession with revenue.
