Clive was so much better once he an ex pro commentate with him. All those years he had a bit of hate, the main issue was commentating with people like Geoff foster

It was because he wasn't Rob Gurney.

Despite teasing him a lot about getting players names wrong constantly, I'm gutted Clive is leaving. That feeling is heightened particularly since Rob returned with a very negative mindset. Each time he contributes during or after a match it's swayed heavily by the result regardless of the performance. Then there were those moments he seemed to be bickering with folks commenting about his comments.

Did not enjoy Lorna's contribution last week which was full of interjections and asides that really had very little to do with the game and of very little interest of the listener... including a bunch of lovely (for her) but extremely self-indulgent stuff about her family being there. Overall she just comes across as unprofessional and out of step with things. Gosh I sound like raincloud Rob now!

All in all, I'd prefer it if Clive stayed and Rob went or seriously changed his approach.

I grew up in the Rob Gurney era and I always remember it fondly, but I'm wondering if he was always this reactionary and negative and it's just nostalgia.

The plot thickens.

Announced on CWR this morning that it would be Clive, Oggy and Lorna doing the coverage tonight. So still no Rob Gurney.
What is going on there?

Yeah saw that and congrats to him I assumed it was granddaughter rather than daughter, but guess this must be a much younger Mrs Gurney.

Christ! I remember meeting Rob & Geoff in the CWR studios as a kid in 1995 (@Houchens Head may have been knocking around too )...

I've got two boys & I would consider myself past it now... bloody hell!

You may well have seen me somewhere in the studios, L G. I was there from 1994 to 1996. Happy days. Both Rob and Geoff came to my leaving do aswell.

In true Clive style he was wondering who the guy on the screen was! It was tho a good little tribute and a good response from the fans in return

'Got us in the feels'

Is this another distortion of the English language I need to familiarise myself with?

Unless Rob is going surely it will be him and Oggy and then someone else in the presenter role, probably Lorna or Vic as I doubt there's the budget to employ someone.

The young lad Will is the protege isn’t he? I’d imagine he’ll be doing some bits.

They will go back to how it was before Gurney arrived - Gurney as presenter and does comms with Oggy and then the phone in. Producer (tbc) does the post match interview.
