TROUBLE: Police probe Coventry City fan's 'racist' Facebook posts - Club tell local news that police are investigating
POLICE ARE investigating allegations that a Coventry City fans made racist comments on Facebook, reports The Coventry Telegraph.
A complaint was made to Coventry City Football Club when BNP local election candidate, Phillip Kimberley, allegedly wrote one that racism in football could be stopped by banning black and Asian players.
In another post Kimberley is also accused of have writing that racist chanting should be brought back because 'it’s fun'.
He has since denied making the comments, instead claiming that someone hacked into his account to write the offensive posts, which were said to have been found by anti-fascist group Hope Not Hate.
A spokesman for the club said: “Coventry City Football Club is committed to equality within the game and ensuring that we are doing all that we can to help eradicate discrimination."
“We take any complaints relating to racist abuse amongst supporters seriously and will investigate any incidents reported to us," they added.
“We have been made aware of comments posted by a supporter on Facebook and have referred the matter to the police."
The case continues.
Must be a case of hacking surely? No human is stupid enough to say such things are they? Even someone from the BNP!
