It was the reverse in the first half. Boro looked equally as poor, so many loose passes. It was a pretty low quality affair all round.

We got away with one last night. First half was as bad as i have seen us this season, nobody could pass a ball. Thankfully Stoke dont have much going forward at the minute.

Much better second half and glad to get it out the way. Conway to finish top scorer now.......

Preston saturday in the lunch time kick off.

He actually fluffed his shot but by fluke it set him up. When it's going your way, it's really going your way.

Find it odd we are upset that Boro maybe had some slight rub of the green. I'm guessing Ispwich and Boro after 75 mins of our last two games were getting quite excited we were dropping points too.

It's what happens with teams at the top, they win games late etc

If it wasn't obvious that was very tongue in cheek - i mean he tried his best to miss that one last night....

Chuffed for him though, work rate, effort is incredible but it just has not happened in front of goal which is ultimately his job. Alongside someone he will be an asset

Hopefully he chips in with a few more vital goals in the coming weeks

I wish Hull would bugger off so we can almost guarantee 2 from 3, they're in great form too.

All of the top sides winning, it's as you were, but another game ticked off. Pressure could be on Monday night if Boro and Ipswich get a result at the weekend and we know how bad we are at Norwich. I suspect we'll get something from QPR away and I expect us to beat Oxford at home, then the real big one could be that home game v Boro.

I expect Ipswich to go up in one of the automatics and I think if we beat Boro at home, I would expect us to join them, but still think that's a pivotal game and our recent record against them counts for nothing.

@Kris_Boro @Ipad Boro whats the craic w Viveash? He seemed integral to Gibson’s rebuild plans (I heard last week that it was Carrick’s refusal to agree to AVs arrival that sealed his fate) and his stock looked v high after Edwards left but I get the impression that he’s been somewhat isolated by Hellberg bringing in a whole new team of underlings.

Anyroadup, I know how easy it is to misjudge from the outside so while you’re both here I thought I’d enquire.

Yeah, but it was only a week or so ago that many on here were saying Watford were the ones to watch and that they could well take one of the automatic promotion places.

They are now 16 points behind us.

Form comes and goes. Maybe Hull will sustain it, maybe not.

Not convinced myself. At the moment, clubs seem to be taking it in turns to have a go.

Because we don't play until Monday I can now watch our closest rivals games. Not surprisingly was willing on a Stoke victory last night. After a poor first half I was hoping it would just be one of those nights for Boro. Fair play though, they were good in the second half. Conway was a lucky boy, but we've had similar good luck this season.

I don't care who the other team is, I just want us to be in that top two. Though would prefer Boro as Ipswich reek of PES, Parachute Entitlement Syndrome.

Ipswich have been poor on the road - with a notable exception - so am hoping their tranche of away games take their toll.

Very much there and involved but is happy being in the background and not in front of the camera. Hellberg made a big thing of him when he came and it seems to be working well. The players love him, as do the fans. Top man he is

I agree, i've also got Ipswich going up along with us or Middlesbrough. As long as we don't lose the home game with Middlesbrough i'd have us to edge it.

February will be key for Ipswich with them having 5 away games in a row and their first home game in February not till the 28th!

Middlesbrough have some tough away games remaining as they have to come to us, Ipswich, Birmingham, Wrexham, Sheff Utd, etc.

Boro are the form team at the moment, he did the dirty on you but Edwards leaving was the best thing to happen to you - Imo you had peaked under him and I was not one bit worried about you when he was your manager, I feel you are a better side under this new manager and he is more tactically astute

In an ideal world would like Boro to go up with us, spent 3 years in the area at Teesside University so got a lot of Boro mates, combine that with the competitive games over the last few years and I feel like Boro have been joined at our hips for the last 7 or so years of my life so it would be a nice full circle moment for us to go up to the Prem in the same season... But until we are mathematically over the line I hope you keep dropping points

Actually there is a scenario of Cov and Boro putting together an extended winning run, drawing with each other and leaving Ipswich behind in the dust with their long run of away games. We can dream

We have won four in a row in the league

Southampton
West Brom
Stoke
Preston

Scoring 13 and conceding 3.

That makes it 12 games under Hellberg, 8 wins and 1 draw and 3 defeats

Strangely, three of the recent games have seen some of our worst performances but the stats show a free scoring team. Hard to take too much away from Saturday, Preston where beyond dreadful, we took full advantage but it was on a plate for us.

Best news (Apart from Conway making it 3 in 2 games) is seeing Brittain, Fry and Mcgree back in the squad. Brittain has been our best player this season. Sarmiento about done as well so with a bit of luck we have this team lining up

Brynn

Brittain
Fry
Malanda
Targett

Morris
Hackney

Whittaker
Mcgree
Sarmiento

Conway

With a strong bench i will be feeling much more comfortable than i have been during a tough spell with injuries. Still hope to see a striker signed. Its unlikely Mcgree will stay fit for the rest of the season.

Over the moon Ipswich got beat, puts us back in control of second even with their game in hand.

Over to you lot tonight, a tough fixture. Norwich definitely appear to have turned a corner. Win and you must be confident of top 2, which i think you will.

Awful those teams that no matter how you are doing or they are, they still beat you.

In this division for thats Bristol City and more recently yourselves - albeit you have just been better than us to be fair. Bristol could be rock bottom and id still fancy them.

It was Stoke until the last two seasons. They turned into prime Barcelona whenever we played them. I remember Will Smallbone playing like Zidane.

That's why Norwich have got the better of us in recent years, too. For most of the time, they've been a parachute club, so have just had a better team than us.

The home game this year, though, was ridiculous. They put in as cowardly a performance as I've ever seen, and got away with a 1-1.

Bored, so Googled it. Yup dodgy car park investment scheme -

Bury FC was today expelled from the English Football League, after failing to meet a deadline requiring it to secure new funds or ownership. So it’s a good time to home in on the peculiar case of what happened to its car park over the past few years.

Stewart Day, the former chairman and property developer, took over the club in 2013. By 2015, his now-failed property company, Mederco Limited, had taken on a lease on the club’s car park. It was initially for 209 spaces, though 49 were added later that year.

In 2017, according to Companies House filings, it paid £50,000 rent to the club. But the spaces were sold on to investors for £9,995 each. Here’s the write up about it in the Bury Times as early as 2014.

You can still register interest here, for a 9 per cent “NET rental return”. As you might have guessed, this didn’t go well for those who bought in. Mederco is now in administration, and people who bought the car park spaces should be getting £232,000 a year, of which £190,000 is in arrears. What about the underlying collateral - the spaces themselves? Well, here’s the administrator’s report:

The parking spaces themselves generate no income, and the Company must have therefore utilised other income streams to pay the sub under-lease rents.

This particular scheme is another example of fractional investing, where a property asset is carved up and sold on to retail investors. These are not regulated by the FCA, and tend to be aggressively marketed, often on social media. They’ve also been cropping up all over the place, at a time of low interest rates and new freedoms for pensioners to invest their pension pots.

It’s reminiscent of high-risk student accommodation developments we’ve recently been writing about, where investors are promised a fixed income on rooms. Penningtons, a law firm in London that represents investors in such schemes, has pointed out similar examples of student accommodation schemes where investors have lost out in Bradford and Leicester.

Bury FC car park spaces to rent at £10,000 each

BURY Football Club is offering investors the chance to lease a car parking spot — in a bid to raise cash without having to sell off its assets.

You certainly where not wrong about that game.

As soon as Sky put the image up that they hadn't come from behind to win since playing you in January 2025 you just knew what was happening.

As much as we want to be at the top, its an absolute nightmare. The dread of every game.

Still lots of twists and turns to come

There's no fat bint even clearing her throat, never mind singing yet mate.

Last night's game for you was just a fulfilling of a Hoodoo more than anything and you know how much Boro fans believe in those! A Hoodoo can be maintained by playing shite, opponents performing out of their boots, having a raft of injuries, heaps of bad luck, anything.

Very very occasionally Hoodoos are even broken. But it's never likely.
