Possibly the most egregious moment in the game was their centre-half rolling on the floor clutching his face following no contact whatsoever. I felt a bit embarrassed for him, tbh.

Peeping through his fingers to see if the ref was looking!!!!

When i saw the replay on the one on EMC, I let an audible wince.

Genuinely thought he'd broken his ankle.

I see SKY are highlighting these tackles, a bit like they did for BTA, hopefully the panel look at them as per BTA and they get the same outcome. Trial by SKY

Though given Southamptons fixtures that will be of no benefit to us unfortunately

That ref needs to get back to Sunday league, that's about his level, he was absolutely diabolical. They were time wasting from the opening minutes, The first corner they got the left back took about a minute to walk over.

This forum loves to be binary.

It is feasible to complain about the standard of officiating today without it being an excuse for us losing.

I thought he was inconsistent, weak and had zero control. He wasn’t helped by his Assistants, especially the one in front of the East Stand who seemed incapable of making a decision and was frequently behind play.

This is exactly right, we weren’t at our best today, but Southampton came with a plan to disrupt, as soon as they realised the ref was so poor, and they wouldn’t get penalised for dangerous tackles or time wasting it continued all game.

I think if we had players good as we can we would’ve won today in spite of southamptons tactics. But as we weren’t at our best, the cheating didn’t help, and I think we deserved a draw.

I believe when a team comes to play the way Southampton does, the ref needs to be strong and stamp it out early on, this ref didn’t and we could all see after the first few minutes where it was heading. I’m not a fan of early yellows, but in this instance one or two early bookings for Southampton would’ve stopped the dirty fouls and the time wasting

I would even say I'd rather have had Gavin Ward, ( hate him ) in charge today. I know he's a cocky. stroppy little fucker, but he'd have stopped all the fuckery today at the start

I don’t recall Onyeka stamping on someone’s foot or placing a high boot where it could potentially break the other player’s foot. There’s different levels to bring physical and playing aggressively without resorting to being downright dirty.

These challenges deserved at least a yellow card at the very least if not a red like what Da Silva got in the reverse fixture.
