Cheating like we saw from Southampton needs to be stopped (27 Viewers)

I’m fed up of all of the cheating we’ve seen this season. Southampton knew from minute one they could con the ref, time wasting, dirty tackles. It’s happened a few times this season. They didn’t come to play football, didn’t even come to sit behind the ball, they came to cheat, and I’m fed up of it!

where the hell did they get that useless ref???? Matsuka should have been redcarded for that lunge on Eccles, surely the panel have to look at that mid week? he fell for every trick they pulled and it just disrupted the game, which I suppose is what they wanted. I'd be fucking fuming if we had to watch that shit every week, worse for going to ground than Norwich.

what the fuck are you saying?
We need to call out teams who come with a “game plan” just to disrupt and cheat, it’s so crap to watch
It’s been part of the game for years, they were never going to beat us going against us man for man

we’re feeling it more than ever for once because we’re the best team in the league.

They came with a game plan and spoiled us. We didn’t get to grips with it.

I have a feeling we’ll be defending this football next season….

the match hinged on their goalie pulling off 3 worldies and us conceding stupid goals. We move on. We’ll win next week.

I'm sure if you took an appropriate still shot of it, it wouldn't look particularly great.

You can't praise your own team
for smashing someone off the ball 4 seconds into a match, then cry about questionable tactics from another team...... although its par for the course for most football fans.

Come on guys we’re better than this…
I tend to agree. Tackles are part of the game, and it's the refs fault if he doesn't deal with the odd bad one. Time wasting, although annoying - also down to the ref to deal with. Thought Saints managed the game well, but we'll still go up, so I'm not too bothered.

I’m sure we’ll be up in arms when Thomas tries to take Haaland out next season

This isn't exclusive to Southampton at all but I can't abide how a referee and linesman will both happily watch slack-jawed as someone strolls forward 10 yards from where a ball went out before adding another little runup for their throw.
Agree with this - it's becoming as standard as ignoring shirt holding at corners. They just can't be ars*d to deal with it.

They were the cheatingest team I’ve seen this year but also the ref was weak as fuck and they just did what they could get away with. The simulated head injury and constant time wasting was pathetic though.

They certainly weren't wasting time right from the off - They were in dire need of the points more than we were.
Once they had taken the lead that was a different matter of course.

That was a shoulder barge? Not comparable

That's the modern game.Every single player ( including ours ) will time waste and feign injury .
Players these days are just a bunch of cheating cry.babies
It will only get worse unless the authorities do something about it

When Dasilva did the same I don’t think he was accused on here by keg breaking dirty tactics and his was more obvious

Dock linesmen's pay 10 quid for every extra stolen yard that is shown after consultation via the end of game video.
Once they are in debit, bend them over the physios couch and invite an unsuccessful applicant from the wonderful HT kick it for a ticket competition to administer flag insertion.

Nah today was a level above most teams, hence so many people commenting on it.

Tbf, they were as bad as those photos suggest. First, probably, worse, and EMC was lucky as his foot bent right back from his ankle. Could have been a serious injury.

The second one, their bloke was very apologetic afterwards, not that that makes it a better tackle. First was an unarguable red.

I mean the notion they are a dirty team is embarrassing

Wasting time moving the goal kick over to the other side is another minor one that can fuck off. Side it goes out is the side you take it from. If it goes over the bar centrally, ref decides. Get on with it

They paid us due respect and said that they can't compete with us if they try to play open football. Trouble is they cannot replicate it against lower down the league team as they don't have the same desire as they do against the top of the league. I shall have bet that they draw there next game.

They had a plan to stop us playing which was to nullify Grimes.
To some extent it worked but we still created enough chances to win the game.
We lost because we didn't put away the chances we created, not because Saints were dirty or they cheated or the officials were poor.

Only ourselves to blame.
