Not aimed particularly at you Tom, just the latest of many similar posts. I think some of you need to have a look at your friends tbh unless you're all actively going out looking for this stuff as some sort of gotcha. I would most likely be considered a leftie by people on here and I have friends far more to the left than I am but I don't see any of this shit.

If people are seeing this from their friends in places like FB and insta probably time to have a clear out of your friends list. Sure I get some fucking weird & horrific stuff when I go on the for you feed on twitter but nothing from people I actually follow or know and I know some people who have some pretty out there views politically, on both sides of the spectrum.

I think the issue in part, is the algorithm. I'm petrified of snakes, but occasionally fascinated by seeing something on my feed. If I view it for more than a couple of seconds, im suddenly inundated with fekkin snakes!

Trump, unfortunately, very much pushes that. He does so much damage with his "radical left" and "commies" type stuff

It's always done with such disdain and without thought and it can only result in stirring up trouble,

We use the terms Nazis and fascists and commies, far too easily and without much thought these days

I do find we very much live in a world where everything is an extreme. Things are either the best thing ever happend, or utterly brilliant, or the worst day of your life and absolutely dreadful

Very much hear that kind of talk from teenagers lately.

Everything is so dramatic.

But this is exactly my point highlighted in my last post.

Those on either side of the spectrum weaponise these words without having any real understanding or concept of what they even are or mean.

It's idiotic frankly.

It's this, isn't it. If you use the same rhetorical devices, tone, language etc. as someone you fundamentally disagree with, how are you going to shake them out of the way they're thinking and get them to look at something differently? If you match those things you're probably just point scoring.

There's nothing wrong with calling out his reprehensible views, doesn't mean you're glad he's dead or anything daft like that.

The left are as much complicit in the escalating culture war as the right are.

The point scoring epidemic is largely fuelling that.

You only have to look at posts on X where individuals are now intensely dissecting every clip, video and social post Kirk ever put out to try and somehow justify that the public execution of a man was somehow warranted, which is a baffling and objectively evil viewpoint.

It shouldn't take a genius to figure out his views on topics such as systematic racism, geopolitics, Trump, pro-life vs pro-choice, and even religion etc. largely weren't acceptable or even correct - just to touch on the latter he was genuinely factually wrong most of the time and when he put his head above the parapet and debated people which were quite clearly intellectually superior than he was, it was a pretty humbling experience for him put it that way. But he had the right to express and share his views regardless without the threat or act of violence.

But yeah, I do think language and rhetoric has become a catalyst to driving a sizeable wedge between both ends of the spectrum and it's gone unchecked for too long.

Saw a stat this morning, no idea if its true tbf but it seems plausible, that there's been 10,407 gun deaths in America so far this year including 301 mass shooting and currently averaging more than one school shooting a year.

Don't see the expectation of an outpouring of grief for anyone else. Not sure why this guy, who had some pretty horrific views, should be different to anyone else.

But we have people who, if you don't act like the man was a saint, equate it to you celebrating his death.

There is a massive lack of knowledge in terms of the atrocities communist regimes have actually committed throughout history i.e. under Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot.

There are leftists which will proudly call themselves commies to be edgy.

Very much doubt you'll find those on the right donning the fascist label so freely.

I don’t know about that. I was taught as GCSE level that Stalin killed more than Hitler.

Also, i would suggest that people get accused of being a socialist/communist as something to be derided for quite often…it’s happened on here…for expressing even left of centre views…or even centre views. The idea that Starmer is a ‘dangerous lefty’ is laughable.

How many fascist societies do you think there are?

Warwick’s Conservative society got in trouble for singing SS marching songs quite recently. The one at my old university did for burning effigies of Obama and Gordon Brown.

Students generally will hold more radical views it’s safe to say.

Hmmm…that’s an interesting point.

I guess, whether you think as a political system it works or not, many communists would not align themselves with Stalin etc and might argue that those brands of Communism are abhorrent and not actual communism? I think there’s also a difference between communism and socialism right?

Fascism seems to be a fairly unified ideology?

And in another WhatsApp group I've had to put right wingers down about the absolute racist shit this guy has said as they try to make him out to be a good guy etc

I think I just like to argue lol. But also I still feel normal people either central left or central right seem to be in the minority now

Name one communist regime within history that has ever worked and improved the lives of civilians within that country.

I'll save you the googling. There isn't one.

Across history atrocities committed under communist regimes massively outweighs those committed under a fascism regime.

Exactly my point. There wouldn't ever be a fascist society due to the heinous and vile crimes against humanity committed throughout history by fascist regimes.

Also, not all Conservatives are fascists.

It's still a credible example though that highlights the memory and acts of atrocity committed under communist regimes are still being whitewashed in the West.

Whatever way they want to spin it they were communist.

The whole issue with communism it that it can never work because as a system it's intrinsically flawed.

It breeds corruption and authoritarianism which gives license to the ruling party to control and repress the population, squashes any form of dissent and basically allows leaders to accumulate both wealth and power for themselves at the expense of the general public.

By your own argument I can openly be a fascist but a nice one because I hate Hitler and Mussolini.
