I do think there are different mindsets.
Every socialist I know are truly lovely people, because they care and they care for society in general. So many of them help out in the community etc.
They just seem to be kind people
Now, my missus and her daughter are both lovely, but they have lived in a capitalist world and things are so very different, to my upbringing, from a working class family, tying to make ends meet.
Mentioning this now, because the daughter is looking for a boyfriend at the moment (she's 22 and works in the city for a PWH type company). My missus is an accountant
Anyway, the daughter, Ruby, said she met someone the other day and my missus' eyes lit up. Then she said he was an actor and my missus just groaned and Ruby started talking about contributing to a house and household in the future etc and looking for someone with money behind them.
I just couldn't get my head around it at all. I get it, but when we were growing up (that's myself, my two brother and all my mates), only ever talked about meeting a nice girl. You just fell in love with, who you fell in love with
It made no difference to me or them what the girlfriend did, it was only ever interested in the person inside and their personality and whether they were kind and caring etc.
Anyway, the point I wanted to make is, even though what the two of them said, shocked me, they are still very nice people.
And there will always be extremists whatever your leaning is
Lean too far one way or another and that's what can happen.
My attitude has always been to treat everyone as an individual and each and every person on their own individual merits
