If you believe what you read on twitter rather than what's reported, then politely, your opinion counts for shit.

Unlike the fat bloke down the pub you're listening to for your facts, journalists generally do proper research. If you can prove the article to be incorrect, then feel free to put your own links up.

All you're actually doing here is proving that your own prejudice trumps actual facts. It's a really common mistake for fans of far right rhetoric in general.

So, prove me wrong , as a man once said. Put some evidence of your own up, or quit feckin' whining about "left wing rags" when you're faced with an uncomfortable fact.

The facts were around Notting Hill and the way arrests are just brushed aside.

The police were looking for people to arrest is just a bizarre statement. Why take knives and sell drugs?

Even at the Palestine action protest 17 were arrested for assaulting the police. Don’t tell me - they are just to justify arresting 800 other law breakers.

Thing is, if we go any of the way the US is heading, people like that guy at the front, would end up out of the country. They are talking about heritage rather than birthright aren't they.

Glad those people seem happy and smiley. The downside side is the speakers they had on the platform, who are so filled with hate (Katie Hopkins, Laurence Fox, Steve Bannon, Brian Tamaki etc.)

For it to be more valid, they need sensible, respected orators onboard.

Bannon has a criminal record, Robinson has a criminal record, Katie Hopkins mocked disabled people and Brian Tamaki, said that earthquakes could be caused by homosexuality. Not sure what the latest on Laurence Fox is, but hasn't he been charged for sharing upskirt photos?

Many of people who are speaking are either criminal, or just vile people.

If it's all supposed to be about love and community, let's have some loving people on the podiums and not hear the likes of Musk saying stuff like fight or die.

I am sure there were many just normal, every day folk at this rally, but unfortunately, simply by association, they will be labelled as fascist and far right.

If they are decent people at the rally, get decent people up on the podiums.

I was on the last one and no trouble, a few mates went no trouble. They'll always be a few who want trouble same as a football match. On the whole it was a peaceful day. From actual people who were there. Pensioners, women, people of colour. If you want to just believe what's said in the Guardian and your Blue Sky then crack on. Your in the minority.

I just want facts mate. Again, you can read the Guardian article for yourself. Based on actual police data. Can you disprove it or not, simple question?

If you don't answer it's fair to assume you're just wibbling.

As for marches organised by a lying, racist, serial criminal, resulting in violence, fuck me, why would that surprise anyone given his history? You're ok with Tommy though, obviously...

I simply cannot get my head around why anyone would support Timmy Robinson.

His criminal record includes convictions for violence, financial, and immigration frauds, cocaine possession with intent to supply, and public order offences.

No decent person would want him anywhere near a rally of supposed unity.

Im not sure what the point you are making is.

The riots were acts of intended violence. I mean you’ve already acknowledged at Nottingham Hill it attracts a criminal element. So it’s hardly that surprising.

What is the relevance here? Are you saying 2 out of 5 at this march are domestic abusers? Do you have any evidence?

So just to provide some balance, at Notting Hill the police went geared up to arrest people.

So they were using knife detecting archways and facial recognition etc., and actively looking for drug dealing etc..

Also the carnival is over two days and has over two million attendees.

At the Tommy Robinson support march, the police weren't interested in making arrests. Just in maintaing public order, or trying to. So no knife arches, no facial recognition, no searching for drugs, outstanding warrants, etc. etc..

I also don't believe there was any concerted attempt to attack the police at Notting Hill. There clearly was at the Tommy march.

Basically then, and as politely as I can put it, this is a fatuous argument - you're comparing apples with oranges.

Let's not bullshit each other. Violence at rallies organised by Tommy and his ilk is absolutely par for the course. Trying to minimise it by saying, but look at Notting Hill, is a pretty weak argument.

As it turns out, people who violently kick off at the police, and immigrants etc., seem to have a remarkably disproportionate record of previous offending, particularly when it comes to domestic abuse.

Does flag shagging lead to wife beating, I wonder, or is it the other way around?

Two in five arrested for last summer’s UK riots had been reported for domestic abuse

Police data indicates overlaps between public violent disorder and domestic violence and abuse

I even put in that it is over a couple of days.

It's not comparing apples to oranges or excusing anybody who attacks police at any event. If somebody hits a copper, regardless they should feel the full force of the law.

It isn't trying to minimise anything, the only person trying to minimise is you in this post and you would also try to minimise it if comparing stats to a Palestine march.

I'm not being led by him, I don't agree with everything he's spouts, it's his opinions and some I agree with. I'm not a knuckle dragging neanderthal either. I'm a hard working family guy with white and ethnic friends and acquaintances. Look at the pictures of the people in the rally on Saturday. You'd be surprised

And you wonder why....

Facial recognition technology, (which I think - correct me if i'm wrong - was re-introduced for the first time in a number of years this year), played a major role in making this year's NHC the safest it's been in years, with robbery down 70%, violence down 53%, and sexual offences down 8% compared to last year.

Police proactively sought to find those that intended to attend to cause harm to others - whether that be gang related or for some other motive - and were clearly successful. Can't really not expect increased measures to be taken when two people were stabbed to death last year.

Also dozens of police are assaulted at NHC every single year. This year there were 55 arrests for assaults on police officers, with two of those requiring hospital treatment. One for a broken nose and another for sustaining a bite on his hand.

There are attendees at NHC which potentially are also intent on causing harm to officers. It's hugely naive to suggest otherwise.
