We spend 5 million on a Huddersfield player last summer, what does the club have to do with it? Would it make you happier we signed him from some European team and his surname was Hughesenio or something

Not for a centre back. Needs to be Hughesovic or at a push van Hughes.

Genuinely curious are you happy with anyone we are linked with or sign?

Having heard of him five minutes ago seems a decent pick up if the price is right. Man City and Liverpool academies before Wigan, captain at a young age so should have good leadership which were missing, won Young Player of the Season last year (and goal of the season for a routine header - Austin’s Google scouting strikes again). Wiki says he has ridiculous passing range and he’s been capped at U21 for England. If Doug’s pockets are heavy enough I’d take this lad as an upgrade on Kitching.

Saturday aside I like the look of Rushworth as well, certainly seems more commanding than any of the others including Dovin. Like almost all of our defensive players I’d like to see him take the chance on an earlier forward ball occasionally as he has the ability.

KKH I think will be OK, but a lot of those players end up as Kasey Palmer or Jay Dasilva as much as Gyokeres and O’Hare so time will tell on the price. I think MvE is criminally underrated for his impact at both ends of the pitch in stuff that doesn’t always show in stats. Pace changes games and he’s a level above. So I think it’s a minor downgrade in the hope of a long term upgrade at best there.

I’m hoping Rushworth got the major fuck up out of his system on Saturday!

Our run of keepers since what feels like forever (since Murphy?) gives me no confidence that the problem is the keepers tbh. But rather a friendly than a league game so agreed hope it’s out of his system and we’ve not given another keeper the yips.

Mmm must admit I’m interested in this Hughesenio player you mentioned, sounds decent 😉

As for my original question, I was just asking if anyone has any knowledge of him, not suggesting either way if he’s good or bad, I just can’t recall watching him at a game. He’s not a player I’ve really noticed tbh but doesn’t mean he’s shit, I just don’t know much about him.

Well yes, most people would have seen him play. He plays in the same league we do, he’s hardly an unknown quantity. He’s very, very good and if we somehow managed to pull it off it would be a real statement of intent

Well if Hull rate him that highly, 8 million now and 8 million when we get promoted to the Premier League.

Doug doesn't seem the type to give up if he is the one him and his staff have settled on. He will be all over this and will keep pushing to get a reaction.

If it comes off another big statement and should quiet the noise down on Doug's intentions for the club, he is going for it can't knock him for his effort.
I'm sure the Shef Wed's owner made" big statements " once look where it got them. Club has to be sustainable yes, ambitious yes but not bankrupt it's future chasing the dream.
